what more could we want?
hi all,
thought i should post an intro here as i have been wandering around the boards over the past couple of days reading your stories.
we are currently a week out from our pregnancy test (friday 10th july) from our first round of ivf. we are in our late thirties (okay she is 37 and i am not...) and though time is a factor as i am older, due to my massive fibroids my partner is ttc first.
we have a fabulous gayboy known donor who loves his mum, can dance and is wicked at singstar... he is pretty cute too (what more could you want?)
my partner coped beautifully with the injections and though sore and sorry after the egg retrieval has been taking good care of herself, we are hoping this round works as we currently live in a regional area and our clinic only runs three or four ivf cycles per year so we would have to wait till October for round two.
anyway, the longterm plan is for my fibroids to be removed (surgery scheduled in a fortnight but 6 week recovery!!!) and for us to attempt to retrieve some of my eggs for a subsequent pregnancy (her or me) ... but lets just get through this one first!
Wishing you all the best for your family plans
Crossing everything

hi D&M thanks for the welcome...
this 2ww is killing us... and tho we are constantly changing our minds on whether it 'has or hasn't' worked, we are currently on a two day downer, both absolutely convinced that we shall be trying again next round. aggghhhh! we shall know more on friday.
so, your tag says that you are 'soon to be ttc' how 'soon' are you gonna be trying?
all the best,
jules

Hi all, I'm new to BellyBelly and very new to the whole baby/pregnancy/parenting thing as my DP and I have finally decided to start a family. So far we've only got as far as me going off the pill, strarting to chart my temps and getting referrals etc, but I'm feeling rather overwhelmed by it all! These forums are a lifesaver though - have learned so much in the last couple of week already.

Hello Hierophant and welcome to bb. You will find stacks of support here so its a good thing you found us :) Look forward to reading your journey.
Hello Monkeygem, soon to be ttc will be happening in October with any luck, I see my doctor this week who tells me I have no problems (with any luck lol) DP would probably disagree (joking!) and then we make the phone call. I have been taking temps and trying to find some kind of regular pattern that may exist, suprise suprise I am quite *normal*. We wanted this before we pursued a fertility specialist so we didn't waste their time and our time as we are about 4 hours from the city.
We are hoping IUI will be our road as I dont have any medical conditions. We just hope the first time is the *time* as im sure you are feeling this right about now also. But we are also prepared to make the journey if necessary. I wanted to wish you both the best and goodluck ;) are you both in NSW?

Hi D&M, thanks for the welcome. We seem to be at a similar stage to you, although I have to see a couple more health professionals before we see the FS as I have Type 1 diabetes, but my GP and diabetes educator are supportive of me TTC. I'm in Melbourne so we are hoping to do everything here, seeing as the laws change soon to give us access to IVF clinics here, but we'll see how we go.

Introduction
Hi everyone :hello:
We have decided that after months of quietly following this forum that it is time to introduce ourselves!
I am 25 and my partner is 23 - we have been ridiculously in love for a little over 2 years and are now planning for our future family.
We are going to begin trying to conceive next year through a clinic. I have begun monitoring my cycle (I will be the tummy mummy) and have also been trying to become as healthy as possible before we begin IUI.
We look forward to sharing stories with you all!
I think that is everything...
Thanks!

Welcome to BB :) Where in QLD are you?
-
Thank you!
Sorry I forgot that part - we are in Brisbane. Northern.
-
Oooh now I'm all excited - young lesbians on the northside who understand wanting babies - YAY :) Are you social/coffee types or homebodies? I'm always looking for folks to bother :)
-
We're on the northside too! Bellmere (Caboolture). We'd love to have some other couples to chat to and have coffee with :D
-
We are serious homebodies! HAHA. But we do venture out for coffee occasionally. We are currently in the middle of moving house (CHAOS!) but when things have settled down a coffee could be nice. Thank you for being so welcoming :D
-
Hey Shades, I noticed in your blog that you went through QFG? We were curious about your experience with them, but I don't know how to send a private message haha. Sorry.
-
I thought they were great - there's an initial registration fee which was a little annoying but then you get free access to a psychologist and stuff as a perk so it balances out... The doc I went to was Dr. Gordon Kilvert and he's really great - I can also recommend Dr. Hine - he'll keep you laughing :)
Oh and you won't be able to PM until you've posted 25 times or 50 times or something... Can't remember the number.
-
hello and welcome O&O. I look forward to reading your journey :)

Hello just wanted to introduce ourselves. New to forum and still finding my way around. My name is Soo and my partner is Gerri, we are newly married in April surrounded by our families and friends and a breath taking committment ceremony and are discussing children. We are leaning towards home insemination (a friend has kept the turkey baster in a safe place for years!!lol)with a known donor but not sure where to find information that may help us on our journey. We live in Victoria and would appreciate any help or guideness. Take Care Soo:D
-
Hey guys sorry for the late repy.. we moved into our new house and have had no internet for a month! Arrrghh! Anyway.. we just returned from our baby making trip to Melbourne! So now we sit and wait that loooong two weeks til we can find out, sigh! We did get to see the musical "wicked" while we were there... amazing!
Good luck to all you other hopeful mummies!

Hey Sood,
If you have not yet found a donor you could check out the website or you can look on pink board. We also used a known donor and have just come home from Melbourne after doing an artificial insemination. Any questions you have feel free to ask away :)

We'll probably be using IVF with donor sperm, we're just looking into all the rules and requirements when it comes to that. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories, it really makes things easier for us newbies ;)

Hi!
Hey everyone.
It's lovely to meet all of you.
I'm erin, I'm in my first year of my Bachelor of midwifery, and I heard this was a great site to hear about everything to do with my future career, and meet people.
As part of my course I have to have 20 'follow through journey's' over the three years. Which just means meeting pregnant women, less than 35 weeks along, and going to at least two ante-natal appointments and two post-natal appointments with them. Anything beyond that is completely up to the women. I act as extra support for you and your partner, just someone to talk to and ask questions and have a coffee with, if that's what you'd like. Someone to be your advocate, to give you support to have a pregnancy and birth that is right for you.
So... about me. I'm a lesbian, and saw this section, and thought how great it would be if any of you would like a student midwife with you for your pregnancy. Not as just a great opportunity to experience the diversity of women I will inevitably come across in my study and career. But also, hopefully being a lesbian, would maybe provide that extra support and understanding, and just an another person to be able to identify with. Not to mention, adding to a great knowledge base for other lesbians, and myself, when I have my own beautiful babies.
If anyone is interested or knows anyone who is, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading my little essay!

... i forgot to mention i'm in melbourne, vic. i live in the brunswick area. but school is in the city...

Hi there Chickpea, I'd just like to say welcome and what a fantastic idea!
We're not pregnant yet but fingers crossed it will happen soon. I'm in qld at the moment but we are moving down to melb as soon as we've got a baby on the way so I can be closer to my parents. I'm really keen to study midwifery myself and I'd be happy to have a student share the expirence with us -which will hopfully be a homebirth. I'll keep you posted :D
Good luck with your studys
-
Hey beth and sara...
Thanks for the welcome and great reaction! I was a bit hesitant asking, but I know that's the only way I'll find out, and yours is just the reaction I love to hear!!!
Fingers crossed for you two, I hope it goes as smoothly as possible.
How cool that you want to study miwifery too. It's great, I'm so excited to be a midwife in 2 1/2 years. The course is full on, and everyone says it's a rollercoaster. There are so many aspects you have to learn about that you don't even think of. But it's worth it, and can be really great some days too!
I'm still learning about all the different conception options. Have you already explained what you two are trying? I'd be interested to find out as much as you'd like to tell!
Homebirth sounds great! Thanks again.:D

Hey Chickpea, We are TTC with Queensland Fertility Group, Doing IUI's with an unknown american donor. If you look in the left top corner of this post you'll see a link to my blog (which I have been very slack at updating) and I go into quite a bit (too much ,lol) detail on there about the IUI procedure :)
We have been getting very poor responses to the 100mg of clomid so we're having a break while we decide to try a different medication with the IUI's or move straight onto IVF.
-
Hey beth and sarah,
I love all your blogs, they're great. So real, and genuine, it's good reading them. I get a feel for what you are going through, which is really interesting from a midwifery point of view. It's good to realise how much goes into getting pregnant for some couples. I think having that knowledge can definately help me support women better when they're pregnant. Knowing what they had to go through to get there!
And for me, a look into my possible future, when I start trying to have my own babies.
Thanks for your openess.

welcome angelicgirl :) I think QLD Fertility Group in Bris are quite open- minded :)
-
though I'm not in QLD and haven't used them myself, I've heard good reports about Queensland Fertility Group being very accepting of lesbian couples.

We have been going through Queensland Fertility Group and have been very happy.
Good luck.

Hi everyone
After reading through this thread I thought i'd do an intro too! I'm Wendy and with my partner of 7 yrs Nic, we are awaiting the arrival of our twins concieved through donor insemination - a 'home job' as we like to call it. I already had 2 children from a previous hetro relationship who are now 13 and 9 and very much looking forward to being big brothers to thier new boy and girl siblings. We live in a northern WA town which is surprisingly good, but we miss being a part of a glbti community.
I'm almost embarrased to say how easy it was for me to get pregnant  The twin thing was quite a shock though! Because we are expecting twins we get a lot of people asking if we concieved 'naturally' or through IVF. I am constantly amazed at how intrusive complete strangers can be with thier questions about conception!
Anyway, great reading through the forum and good luck to all the lovely ladies TTC!
xx
