Hey guys,

About a month ago my husband noticed my hair was getting really thin on the back of my head.. like can see my scalp kind of thin. I've noticed it's very think at the front also. I've always had fine hair, but this is more like alopecia. Lucky I cover my hair for religious reasons, or I would be very upset as it looks that bad.

Anyway, everyone kept saying it was form covering my hair, but I've done that for 8.5 years, so it seems weird it would start now, and it is uncovered at night. Then I suddenly though maybe it was from one of my medications (I take quite a few), and bingo, it is listed as a side effect on the cholesterol tablets I take, which I started around 6 months ago, so hopefully it is from that. Saw the GP, she said to stop taking them for a month, see if my hair gets better, and if it does we will know it's the tablets and try and find me something else.

What I'm wondering is has anyone else had this, and is the hair loss reversible? Otherwise she would probably suggest staying on it, rather than playing around with different meds (and I have to be on something), and I don't want it getting worse, besides that fact I want it better.

She did say she can refer me to a special hair dermatologist, but they might want me to take more drugs, and I take enough, and have so much going on in my life I can't deal with another specialist or more medical things to add into my daily routine. If it doesn't get better, or gets worse, I may consider going down this path... Has anyone seen anyone - what did they advise?

Thanks
