LOL, you're scared of running - i'm scared of the gym!

I always run with music, it makes a huge difference to my ability to ignore the bit of my brain that goes "go home now, you've run plenty" "the hips hurt, let's stop now" "you're nearly out of water, you have to go home" (when i have 700ml left still!) as i go. The first 10k is great, the next 5 is kind of tiring and after that well, just don't think about anything you can feel below say, your throat, and you'll be great! I would advise anyone who wants to take up running to go to a good running shop and get fitted for decent running shoes which are suitable for your gait and activity level. They might cost $$$ but they save in knee surgery down the line!

I'm not stopping running, just cutting my 3 runs a week to 1 or 2 and adding in some new stuff, i'm sitting here wondering if i can safely blade while pushing DD's buggy in the park. LOL. I am so excited and frightened to take up Pump though - i haven't been inside a gym (except the pool bit) for YEARS and i don't think i've done a class for 8 years! I've got a friend i might be going to one class with - hopefully that'll warm me in a bit and i won't feel so scared going on my own to my local centre.
