    Default Curves?

Just wanted to know if anyone goes to Curves (fitness club)? I have an appointment with them on Thursday to find out more about the program but I admit I am skeptical that it can really work...I am worried that I would get bored and stop going. Any experiences, good or bad, please let me know. Thanks!

Not a Curves member, but the girl that works with me is and she says that it's the most fun under the sun. She also has lost about 5kg in 3 months and look a lot thinner and toned. She works really hard in the half-hour that she goes. So I feel that if you put in alot, you are going to get out alot, kwim???

Thanks Nadine, I figured that must have been how it worked, you must have to push yourself to the max for half an hour. Thanks!

Thanks kim, i'll see what they have to say tomorrow. I am desperate to lose this weight....we are not TTC again until I do (my rules), i have given myself a goal of 10kgs by then end of the year (novemberish) and then another 10kgs after that...but once i lose the 10kgs (which is still excess from grace) we can look at TTC again...i'm not in a hurry to do that so that is why it an end of year goal.. Gosh i can ramble lol. Thanks again.

I used to be a member of Curves... and I did enjoy going there.. but I found that their hours of opening were really annoying!!! I'm not sure if it is the same everywhere, but at my local one, they were closed between 12pm and 3pm... which are the times in which I was most wanting to go!! Because by 12, Harrison was no where near due for a feed, I'd had the housework etc done, and it was my "me" time... and at 3pm, I'd have to pick the older kids up from school... If I'd been able to go during those times, I probably would have kept going. I went for a month, before finding out I was pregnant with Harrison...I then put it on hold until after I had him, but I have not yet taken it off the hold! lol

I was going to join, but they dont let you bring your kids (well, not at my local one anyway). Pretty pointless to me, havign a womens gym and no kids allowed!

My local one didn't let you bring kids either... but the manager and I used to be workmates so she allowed me to bring Harrison along as long as he was in his pram, and she'd look after him.

thanks ladies....yeah, the opening hours are not very flexible and being closed on a sunday is a pain as i will have to go when DH can look after DD and as he is a shift worker sometimes that would be easier on a sunday...thanks. i will see what they have to say tomorrow.

Hi! Well I had my appointment at the gym today. It was interesting. She took all my measurements and (surprise surprise) told me I am carrying excess fat (really?!). She said that as long as I stick to coming 3 times per week that I will get the results I'm after. She tried to sell me their eating plan but i'm not interested in that sort of thing, I eat well I just need to get off my butt. So she took me around for a session and I now have 3 free sessions to see if I like it. It went really fast, It was a bit weird when on the recovery spots as you just do what you want. I was warm and heart rate up by the end...and thought oh yeah.,.but I am now starting to feel it and my arms, legs and tummy are starting to ache...a tad worried about how I will feel in the morning! So i'll do the 3 free and then see. The 30 minutes is appealing, to be able to get a proper workout in that time frame makes life much easier with a little one. But their opening hours are not that great and the no child care could be a problem (only cause of their opening hours...they need to open later). Would love to hear if anyone has been successful with them? Thanks!

Hey Kim, thanks! I will use my 3 free sessions but i'm thinking it won't be the right place for me...i haven't been able to go again this week due to work and next week there will only be 2 opportunities for me...so may not work. We shall see. I have a friend that is keen to join the gym, the original one i was looking at so that may be the way to go. thanks!

Mum has been advised to stop now...she is disappointed though. She has 2 bad knees and some of the equipment isnt doing her any favours now. So Dr said stop.

Oh no! Hopefully she can find another form of exercise that is more friendly to her knees that she enjoys.

Walking and an exercise bike is what her specialist has said...so she brough one yesterday. Also needs things in her shoes....once she can get her feet and knees ok then Curves will be ok. Needs 2 knee reconstructions too...but was going so well til now!

it's hard isn't it, losing weight will help knees heaps cause they take so much pressure, but knees won't let that happen. vicious circle.
