I was just googling this because i do drink a lot of water, i have a 4 litre bottle in the fridge that always needs refilling by the evening, so i'd estimate that over 24 hours i would drink at least 5 litres of water, and i'm always still thirsty.
I used to think it was due to breastfeeding but since i'm not breastfeeding i'm still thirsty, so googling it came up with a few things, not sure if its worth going to the gp about. Just wondering if anyone else drinks a lot of water? i always thought it was really good for you.
its really really good for you, but you can overdose on it, and if you are drinking it becuase you feel thirsty might be worth seeing your gp and talking to them about it.
Diabetes came up, but i passed the diabetes test in both my pregnancies, so it couldn't be that.
I typed in too much water to see how much and apparently to overdose on water it would have to be about 4 litres within a couple of hours, i drink this over about 12 hours, then just sip through the night.
I agree I would get it checked out. I was drinking about 6 litres of water a day when I was diagnosed with Diabetes. I am not saying it is that but it certainly couldn't hurt to see a doc if you are concerned
i drink alot of water and im not diabetic. I go through 4 x 1.5 litre bottles a day. So 6 litres. Im very busy and have been drinking alot more with the hot weather. In winter it goes down to about 2 litres a day.
Go get it checked by ur GP, just to be on the safe side. Just coz u had a good diabetic check when u were pregnant doesnt mean your not diabetic now.
It could well be due to heat as we all feel thirsty more to avoid dehydration, but its not worth just writing it off as that.
Type 1 Diabetes is known for an abrupt onset in people over 20. It can happen even if there is no family history of diabetes. Other symptoms of Type 1 are frequent urination, tiredness, unexplained weight loss, irritability and increased hunger.
