I've been a user of Sigg drink bottles for a few years now. I tend to drink about 3 litres of water a day. Lately the liner inside my drink bottle has started deteriorating so I'm curious if anyone has a recommendation for a different brand.
I like the sports top on the Sigg because I can drink lying down and from any angle, but after a couple of years use, it's starting to look worse for wear.
What bottle do you use?
What do you like about it?
I love love love my DHs bottle. Klean Kanteen. It wasn't cheap, but is awesome. It was designed to fit in a bikes bottle holder and it fits into cup holders in cars (which none of the Kathmandu or anaconda ones do). It's not a litre, it's 800 mls. It's got a silicone top which never gets yucky and there are a variety of tops available. We have the sports. It's aluminium, so it's easy to keep clean.
I use a Martini bottle. What I like about it is that it is full of Martini - or was. I do go through a lot of them though, so not a very cost-friendly option.
DH uses Sigg stuff and has got some that are very, very old. He would go for Sigg again if he were buying now.
I didn't know klean kanteen made aluminum bottles. We have stainless steel klean kanteens. The aluminum bottles with liners (like sigg) can leach toxins into your water so we avoid them. Another good option is the glass bottles with silicon covers such as lifefactory.
Thanks folks. I like the top on the Sigg, I think the sports top the Sigg's best feature but I'm not that happy with how the liner has deteriorated. I had a look at the Kleen Kanteen ones and found a green one I like but I'll need to see if there's a cover I can buy to cover the spout when it's not being used. I also like how the KK is stainless steel.
The klean kanteen comes with a cover for the sports top. We don't use it as the sports top closes tight and we don't have issues with it spilling but it is there if you want it.
Cheeki makes great insulated drink bottles that will stay icy cold for 24hrs. I have left mine in the car before on a 40 degree day for 8hrs and it is still icy cold.
Yes FL, they are stainless! I meant that!
The brushed ones are dishwasherable. The painted ones aren't because the dishwasher can be so abrasive that the paint can apparently chip a bit.
I can only vouch for the 3.0 spout. It is such a good high flow. They have a lid with a cap too, but I don't know if its silicone and I don't know if it is as good to drink out of.
I only know all this because I spent ages researching one for DH.
