OMG. I did it. I made myself get on the treadmill (after D messaging and saying he gave permission for me to skip tonight and do extra tomorrow!). I struggled BIG time tonight! I *tried* to do a light session... but I get bored and end up going hard. I felt soooo ill. I actually thought I was going to vomit! And it took me much longer to recover as well! My headache is worse than ever as well. Might get a massage tomorrow maybe... at one of those little Chinese places in the plaza. Will see.

Liz - Thanks for the cheer!

Leesa- yeah, time gets a bit precious. Mornings are the best for me, but if I get up to exercise and DS wakes up - I'll need to tend to him (which will mean the end of any exercise). I would like to start walking again in the mornings, but DH isn't quite at the point where he will see the importance of that time being sacred to my exercise - like I do. So I kinda feel like 'why bother'.. I'm also trying to 'fix' my plantar fascitis (heel spurs) - so too much walking is off the cards.

End of the day - I get too tired and it's much harder for me to get motivated (and I'm easily distracted by TV, Computer, etc).

Things are a bit up in the air at the moment (have applied for a job in town) so not sure what to start...

Oh Nettie - I'm so sorry DH hasn't seen the importance of exercise for you health and well being yet. Is he a healthy / fit person? I really hope he can see that you need time for yourself too - exercise adds years onto your life and increases your vitality...Is it something you'd chat to him about sooner or later?

MG - Well done on the treadmill!! What is a light and hard session for you? I know it can be hard to hold back on a light session all too well .

Liz - I believe you can do 1kg on each side of the bar for the entire Pump class, that should be your first goal . As you told me, your DS weighs 8.5 kg now, so you can't tell me you are unable to lift a measley 2kgs eh?? (The challenge is on - you CAN do it!!).

Winter - sounds like the PT really put your through your paces!! What a terrific workout you had - so much so that you couldn't lift DD afterwards, now 'thats' a workout and a half .

Miss Heather - Yes I'm a personal trainer / Les Mills instructor in Attack, Balance, Combat, Jam, Pump and RPM. Be warned - Lorna Jane clothing can be addictive!!

AFM - This weeks training schedule went something like this:
    Sunday - Pump AM
Monday - RPM AM / Attack PM
Tuesday - RPM AM / Combat PM
Wednesday - RPM AM / Jam PM
Thursday - Pump AM / RPM PM
Friday - Attack AM / Balance PM
    Saturday - Attack PM

I have a Pump / Balance back to back class tomorrow morning, but still I'll need to do something cardio wise in the evening .

I hope everyone is keeping active during this lovely weekend!!

Leesa, that 1/2 - 3/4 of the class was the first time managed that before having to drop the weight (my kegs weren't going to hold out)

Leesa- DH would rather all of us went walking together in the evening. But it doesn't do the same thing for me. Time out by myself is really invigorating and helps me focus on my goals - but he can't see that. And by then my feet ache and I can't push myself like I could in the mornings.

And he's quite fit - but a big guy. He and Liam walk all over the place all the time (regularly goes for 6 kms walks during the day while I'm at work) - with Liam in the pram! So he's reasonably fit - walkingwise, but doesn't really do much other exercise except occasional stints on the exercise bike at home...

Is this Lorna Jane stuff only in sizes 6-14 or does it go up to my size? I'm intrigued now!

Aww Nettie - I wish your DH could see that if you can have one hour to yourself each day that you'd probably feel so much more vibrant and lively. How can he not understand that. You work daytime hours, tend to the family in the morning / evening - when is 'Nettie' time - you've gotta have some time for yourself too. Sorry, I'm a huge advocate of that - I'll get back in my box now ..

Oh Nettie, that's hard. My DH was like that (still is to an extent) but is much better now. It's just taken a while but he's now on board. He knows I feel better and am happier when I exercise. I think he has also just given up arguing with me about it I also encourage him to do his own exercise and have his own time out. Keep trying.

After all my excitement about getting to a gym last week, I had a big think about the practicalities of actually getting there in the evenings (and the mornings) and worked out that I wasn't going to manage it especially when DH has a hit of meetings or tennis practice and my already busy Mon and Wed evenings and DH works Saturdays so no one to look after DS while at the gym - no creches on Sats .

Soooo instead I've gone and got a Wii with the Wii Fit stuff too (including some dumbells so I can still do some weights). This way I figure I can at least do some exercise in the evenings after Blake's gone to bed (bedtime is all over the place) even if DH's out and about.

I start up my Pilates class again tonight since we had a Christmas/New Year break - my tummy's likely to be sore tomorrow (and I'll be yawning all the way through it Leesa like I did in pump, not cause I'm tired it's just cause I haven't done it in a while)

Don't lose heart Liz. You don't need to go to a gym to be active and reap the benefits of exercise. I have a treadmill at home and do the majority of my exercise on that.

I have PT tomorrow morning... my first session in a week and I'm not particularly looking forward to it. My motivation has gone on holidays I'm afraid. And my glute is a bit tight at the moment which is potentially a sign of a relapse... so have to be careful today.

I know I should go tomorrow (and will go)... but I don't WANT to go. The only reason I'm going is I feel like I'm getting somewhere again... but I don't think I am...my weight has actually gone up 1Kg in the last month... but I went clothes shopping yesterday and I bought the smallest size I've been able to for a few years! I still have a long way to go though...

Well..I am stuffed and as my DH has mentioned I am red in the face like a ripe tomato! I just did my first RPM in 10mths
Took it slowly as I don't want to frighten myself into not doing it again

Nettie: I hope your DH gives in a little for you, excersise is so good for you mental and physical well being. I know how important it is to have some time to yourself and do the things you want.

MG: I have heard and leesa would probably know for sure that muscle weighs more than fat so if you have put on 1kg you could be toning up just nicely especially if you can buy clothes in a smaller size!

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome..I am a bit late coming into this thread by the looks of it.

I will be doing combat again Wednesday night...let's hope my rhythm is better than my first night

Awww thanks guys for the support

I think I might have a talk with him in the next week (gotta pick my time) and see if I can't get a bit of something going...

Not even planning to do anything tonight. I gave blood at 3.30 pm today, so I'm giving myself the night off of pumping dumbells! We also went for a walk when I got home from work...

Liz - the Wii thing sounds like a good idea. Maybe I should consider that too - but we're on a tight budget around here, so I'd have to be pretty sure about it!

Well done on RPM Heather! YAY!

Fat and muscle actually weigh the same... it's just that it takes twice as much muscle to fill the same space as fat... did that make sense?

Well, I've messaged D to tell him my motivation has gone on holidays... hopefully he will be motivating tomorrow... Knowing that I would feel better after some exercise, I made myself get on the treadmill tonight. I only did 30 min and didn't travel very far ( barely even worked up a sweat!) but I do feel better for it. My left glute is still bothering me I'm contemplating a heat pack) - none of my stretches are working which is indicative of a relapse... I'm doing everything I can to avoid that! Especially with my trip away in just 6 sleeps!!!

    Nettie,
We've been saying that about the Wii for a while but when I started to think about how much a gym membership costs and how much I would like to try and get to it and then thought about the actually getting there minus Blake (as can't do day classes due to school) and how much I'd be out (and DH is out a bit too) I went $400 is a lot cheaper than $600+ and not getting to the gym so that's how I convinced DH that it was time to get it.

Nettie - what is your fitness / weight loss goal? I'd have to go against the grain and say that a wii has limited application in fitness and weight loss - there is a 'ceiling height' so to speak of how far you can go with it. It won't come close to 'real' exercise - but it is a good start on the way to it. However - I bet it will be loads of fun on the upside.
And it depends on the time you can spare too. For some families, mine included time is of the essence. DH is a shift worker, so I adapt when I train to suit when he is home / or at work. I have two kids under two, I'll be working full time day shift hours next month, working in the evenings at the gym, and studying two subjects - if I can find an hour a day for an important cause - anyone can .

Hi CQ, MG, Liz, Heather, Winter!! Sorry I've been MIA - I'm on the second day of my Senior First Aid course today, and its Dad's birthday today, mine on Thursday and DD's on Australia Day - it's a busy month !

I hope you lovelies have a brilliant day!

First off, sorry about the all about me post but I just need to vent!

DH & I got organised to go to the gym yesterday, he had Combat at 10.30 & I had a Ladies Circuit at 11am. No dramas, I'd play with DD & then book her into the creche, DH could just go off to Combat. We get the tickets at the front counter & a creche pass for 1 hour. Off DH goes. DD & I go play and then I wander over to the creche just before 11 and the lady at the desk asked me how I enjoyed the gym circuit class last week. I rave about how great it was and how I'm off it it now. "No love" she says, "on Mondays its at 12 noon."

GREAT!! I took DD out of the creche and thought I'd still be able to do it, we'd work something out when DH got out of class but by the time he finished DD was OVER IT and ready for a sleep so I took the tickets up and told the girl that I would have appreciated being told that I got the time wrong. She looked at me like I had 2 heads and said "but most people go to the gym beforehand" - FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF WITH A BABY?? I ONLY GOT A 1 HOUR CRECHE PASS??!!!

I was so mad all day about it! I would have gone to Combat with DH if she had of mentioned that it didn't start till 12!! So no exercise for me yesterday!

Unless you count stomping around like a bear with a sore head all day!

So today it's Combat for me! Gonna work off my negative energy & get my head back in the zone.

Hello to Leesa - wow, you're going to be busy (busier!) soon!!
CQueen - how were your dates?
Leckart - good luck with the wii. My sis has lost weight with it. She does the Jillian from USA Biggest Loser's game.
Nettie - hope you can keep moving. Maybe you just have to do it & hubby will fall into line
Miss Heather - you go, girl! I'm scared of RPM!! You're very good for getting stuck into the hard stuff straight away.
MG - hope that your bum comes good and no relapse

Go Team! Whatever you do today, do it to the best of your ability, give it your all, and finish with an empty tank!!

Oh Winter! I would have been annoyed too!!!! How did Combat go today?

I had PT this morning. I was in a bit of a funk when I got there. I woke tired (I'd woken several times over night with pain needing a good stretch), lethargic, and just not in the mood for PT. I LOVE PT normally. Then I got there and couldn't see D's car so got myself worked up he wasn't coming But talked myself into going in and he was there (turned out his car was at the mechanic and he was using his Mum's car)... I have mentioned I have gym issues right? Anyway, I really didn't want to be there. I wanted to cry and go home. We went to the park to start training and my heart wasn't in any of it. I got slightly interested in a variation with boxing... but mostly I was absent in my mind. D even commented about it today. He let it go when he realised I wasn't going to discuss anything... but he did make me promise I wasn't in what we call "punishment and self destruct mode"... which is essentially me going hell for leather until I either injure myself or collapse in an exhausted heap!

Anyway, came home and felt unsettled so got on my treadmill and did 25 min walking. I feel slightly better now but still restless.

    Sorry for my whinge!

Lisa - how is First Aid going?

I hope you're feeling better MG. Take it easy if you need time to recover

I smashed it at Combat! The instructor was leaving & it was her last class so I gave it everything I had because she was determined to go out with a bang! I had nothing left at the end. Then we all retired to the cafe for a going away party of fruit and biccies! Noice!

Hope everyone else is moving today. If you haven't - drop down & do 10 pushups before settling into BB! Leesa's counting, I can hear her! Better do 'em!
