Red face Embarrassing question about implanon..

Not sure if this is in the right spot... sorry contains TMI

About a week ago i had Implanon inserted and since then i've noticed that my cm is 'different' kind of more stringy than usual like egg white.. very similiar to when i ovulate (again, so sorry about tmi ) and then this morning i started bleeding..not heaps and still sort of stringy.
Could this just be my body adjusting to the hormone? My dr. said 60% of women on implanon don't have periods and i was hoping i'd be part of that 60% but so far that doesn't seem to be the case I'm fully breastfeeding my 3 month old and i was hoping to not get my period till at least 6months (which is when i got it back with ds1)

Anyone else using implanon and experiencing this?

I had an implanon and had to have it removed. Can't say that I noticed a change in CM, but I did get my period for 6 months!!! (The entire time I had the thing in my arm) Grrr... I hope it's just settling in and it doesn't give you any more problems.

I think its probably just your body adjusting. I've never ued the implanon, I use the depo needle instead. The first time I had it I spotted on & off for the whole 3 months. But since then I haven't had AF at all till the end of the 3 months when it has worn off.
I have been on the depo between kids for 5 years now.

My sister is using implanon, but was on depo first, & had the implanon put in as the depo finished. As far as I know she hasn't had AF since then, but her body may adjust to it easier coz she was on the depo first.

Just wait it out & see how you go. If it gets too much or doesn't stop you can have it removed.

I think it depends. Implanon is progesterone based, and you tend to get more CM with higher progesterone levels (think at O-time and again in the last couple of days before you get your BFP, your CM is different).

I have had 2 implanon, I'm on my second now, and I haven't had my period at all since conceiving DS2 who's now 3.5 years old. I got it in at my 6 week checkup post partum.

Everyone reacts differently to the hormones in Implanon - it's really a matter of "wait and see".

Just check that you can feel the rod in your arm - if Implanon fails, it's usually because the rod didn't get implanted...

    Sorry!

I found I had stringy mucus too. It was blood tinged, sometimes like a light period, other times like pink mucus. I had a 7 week long light period, then nothing for a few weeks, and then light period for two weeks, every two weeks. Drove me nuts. So after 5 months I had it removed. Periods returned to normal.

The one thing to watch out for with implanon, and this doesn't happen to the majority, is depression. If you have a family history, or are prone to depression, the implanon can give you depression. I did not know this until I had mine removed and my depression suddenly went away. That is when my doctors (mental health) told me that the implanon caused it. So just keep an eye on how you're feeling ok.

I have had implanon twice. The second time I had it removed after 6 months because I had periods all over the place. After it was removed my periods lasted 4 days and came every 20-24 days.

I wont get implanon again because I feel it has messed with my body too much. My sister and SIL both had theirs removed too for same reasons. Doesn't mean it doesn't work for everyone else.

BTW- in saying all of the above, both times I had the implanon I never got pregnant - so it worked in that regard.

I got the implanon put in 4 days after I had DD2 (she is now 15 wks old). I'm not a fan of it yet. I bled heavy for 9 wks after having her then it stopped for almost a month then bled heavy again for 16 days, I only stopped bleeding 2 days ago so I am hoping AF will stay away now. If my bleeding patterns continue like this I think I will get it removed. I have had a fair bit of CM similar to CM I got when I ovulated. No depression though.

I had two lots of implanon and didn't have trouble with it, but I was a bit all over the place to start with. I did find that my cycle & symptoms were better/more regular/normal if I took evening primose oil supplements, and my sister was the same. I don't know how scientific it was, but it seemed to help . Might be worth a try before you ditch it?
