Fungal Infections of the skin: Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body) - round, scaling plaques, often on the trunk; tinea pedis (ringworm of the feet) - soggy scaling between the toes and later the skin becomes white and softens and breaks down; tinea unguinum (ringworm of the nails) - nail is yellow and crumbly and may separate from the nail bed; tinea capitis (tinea of the scalp) - small rounded patch of hair loss on the scalp which becomes inflamed; tinea cruris (ringworm of the groin) - circular, scaly lesions in the crutch, pubis, the inside of the thighs and the anal region; tinea barbae (ringworm of the beard) - small rounded patch of hair loss in the beard area which becomes inflamed; tinea faciei - itchy, red patches on the face with or without a border. Candidiasis - red or inflamed patches that can be itchy and may have a rim of fluid-filled pustules. These patches usually appear in the armpits, underneath the breasts, belly button, groin or between the toes and fingers. Tinea versicolor - pink, tan or white patchy scaling on the chest, neck, abdomen and sometimes on the face.
