    I don't know your DF's work situation but if he's a permanent & not a casual worker & not self employed, he should be able to apply for carer's leave for the first few days that you leave the hospital. Get him to ask about this if he hasn't already (sometimes they don't adverstise it but it's available, kwim).

    The actual surgery is pretty minor, you'll be sore & tired from the GA for a few days but you will feel better and better every day. Expect to be recuperating for a good week to 10 days though. There are lots of threads on this so I will bump them up for you.

    ETA - I just found your thread from October when you were first having attacks, you poor darling that's been a long wait for surgery. How have you been getting along? I remember I was so relieved to have the surgery I didn't mind the recovery pain one bit, it's nothing compared to the agony of a gallstone attack.
