I was just after info from anyone who wears them or has worn them in the past.

DD2 keeps pulling at my glasses, i wear mine all day everyday and it's starting to get annoying with her bending them.

So what do i need to know about contacts?
Do you like them/ dislike them and why?
Are yours expensive?
Where do you get yours from?

I am thinking of going through specsavers as that is where i got my glasses and my mum has suggested once you have the 'script' you can get them online.

Whats the best way to do it all?

i don't have them, but i looked into getting them and from what I can remember they need to measure your eye so they fit right. so i'm not sure if you could get them online or not?

well, i don't need my glasses all the time, just for driving. And at the time it was too much stuffing around for my 18 year old self to organise to get them done :P

I love love love my contacts lenses! I have had them for about 6 years now, and I havent looked back!

What do I like about them:

1. I pop them in and forget about them, and its like I have perfect vision.
2. DD also likes to pull at my glasses when I wear them, so I dont have that problem most of the time.
3. Can wear sunglasses without having to get prescription ones.
4. Can go swimming and actually see!
5. Dont have to worry about having my glasses with me.

Once you do have the script and have your measurements etc, you can get them online a bit cheaper, but I choose not to. I get mine from the family optometrist, and price depends on the sort of lenses you get. Mine cost about $200 for a 3 month supply, but them I get some back from hba.

The optometrist at Kilmore gave me some that last a month to try out for free. They last for 30 uses so if you don't use them every day you can stetch their lifetime too. Worth checking out if you like them before spending too much.

Thanks everyone, i am thinking about ringing the place i got my glasses and seeing if i can do a trial or maybe popping into the one HotI mentioned.

i had them (still do) but don't use them. i have astigmatisms that are too severe for the disposable kind, so i was paying $200+ per eye (and that was 6 years or more ago). found my vision wasn't as good, eyes were always dry, dust drove me bonkers... i decided comfort was more my style lol

I wear them most of the time (I dont really like wearing glasses and am totally blind without). It took me a good 2 years to be good at getting them in and out! sometimes it would take me an hour to get them in!! But no Ive been wearing them for afew years and there great and so easy and comfortable!

You can get all different types, daily, weekly, monthly etc. Mine are monthly ones and it costs me bout $150 per 3month supply...so yeah they are a little pricey but I know there are cheaper ones then the ones I need. I guess it all depends on your script, and how your eyes take them.

Dislikes are that if you get them in and there is the tiniest bit of dust on them it feels like knives in your eyes lol, so you have to make sure they are so clean and you dont dry you clean hands on towels before putting them in!

I wear glasses 24/7 amd the only reason i dont have contacts currently is my optomitrist is 3hrs away and i havent been bothered to get more. I normally could just ring and they would get them in but i need to get rechecked cause i think my eyes are getting worse. I never had any problem getting them in or out but i grew up watching my dad do it and he has worn contacts every waking moment of his life for 30 years.
These days you can get so many types.. Daily monthly yearly ones you take out others you dont have to that might take a bit of trial and error but once you ones that suit you you will be fine.
I might add more when im not on my phone =) gl with them!

I wear one-wear disposables because of how my eyes are, I'd love the longer wear ones but they just don't make them for my eyes. I didn't even need the script last time I got replacements, I just took the old boxes in and got them off those.

I loved my gas permeable ones but haven't gotten around to getting more of them. Might get them with my PH allowance for this year.

They will eventually stop pulling on the glasses, so you wouldn't necessarily be wearing contacts daily long term.

I was thinking about them before z, for a change, glasses don't suit me funny as I've worn them since PS.

Do I just ask the optometrist if there us a 'long term' wear all day everyday option?

I wore glasses from age of 7 till about 15 when got first contacts, then maybe 7 years ago had laser surgery so don't need either now. I used all different types of contacts including coloured ones for a while. I went through phases where I would wear them all the time and then others where hardly at all depending on how lazy feeling. I liked the disposable ones the best as all the cleaning was a bit of a pain sometimes. Can't really remember any bad points apart from occasionally forgetting to take out after a drunken night out. Found them easy enough to put in and out once got the knack.

My prescription was perfect for laser surgery though and now have probably saved the money back I would have spent on contacts and glasses, and I love not having to think about either.

Contacts definitely worth a try.
