Yes think of me right there holding your hand too when you tell H, I cant even begin to imagine how you will feel(though I think i will understand someof her feelings so if you want to ask me q's how i have felt in similar situations at similar age to her feel free).
I know I am a real martyr on the hunt for any pink naughtiness - i wouldn't do that for just anyone you know!!

More RAH patients put in isolation (ABC News)
Another three RAH patients have been diagnosed as carrying the infectious bacterium, known as VRE, which has affected several wards since last week.
Authorities say it is potentially lethal to patients who are seriously ill.
The Health Department says 31 people at the RAH are now known carriers.
The patients have been isolated and extra cleaning is being done to prevent any spread of bacteria.
Chief medical officer Professor Paddy Phillips says the bug is harmless in healthy people, but all precautions are being taken for the patients involved.
"The 31 people are colonised with the bug. Not one of them is sick with this bug at this particular time," he said.
"Many of these people have cancer, they're being treated for cancer, they're being looked after for their primary illness - this will be monitored as well."

MD good luck for tomorrow appt. At least tomorrow you will know one way or the other & can then move forward with taking whatever actions. Sitting around waiting for results must just be the pits. As for telling H if need be, even thinking of it breaks my heart, but you are a much stronger woman than me & your attitude blows me away.

MD, don't stress about the buggy thing- it says that it is harmless in healthy people and you are healthy, you just happen to have a couple of funky patches.
MD- Unfortunately VRE and a few other nasty bugs often lurk in hospitals. It is not uncommon, it just gets more media attention sometimes. The reason oncology patients are more usceptible is that their immune systems are compromised from the treatment.
When it is about, many precautions are taken to isolate the bug. I have scrubbed many a room down, to within an inch of its life, after scaning a patient carrying VRE. Try not to worry about it MD, you have enough on your plate. :comfort: (easy for me to say i know. :rolleyes:)

My aunt went through RAH for breast cancer last year and has come out the other side very well. I have everything crossed that it all goes just as well for you.

MD - You popped into my mind today and for some reason I felt that I needed to have a look at this thread as it has been some time. After going back and reading the entire thread I am so very sorry that I have kept a closer eye on your progress.

Aw thanks Bekz, and everyone who posted before that. I know this is a confronting thing that has happened - probably a couple of decades before any of us ever really thought it might be one of 'us' - so I do appreciate that you are all hanging in there, reading my thread and being present for me through the highs and lows.
You were all right, nothing to worry about the super buggy - that's in a part of the hospital that I will always be too healthy to see the inside of. I will be in the regular overnighty surgery area. I am one of the healthy people that get kicked out the day after surgery!
Surgery is now 8 days away - they will remove quite a large chunk of tissue - all the way back to the chest wall (ie partial mastectomy) but fortunately (in the words of the surgeon) I have an "ample bosom" so it may not be so noticeable once it's healed. Let's face it ladies, everyone's kinda lopsided anyway. But I do feel kind of sad about it, and have been thinking of something I can do before the surgery, by way of celebration or ceremony, to mark the transition in my body.
The pathology on the excised tissue will determine whether I keep my lymph nodes or whether another procedure is needed to remove some or all of them. Prayers please that my healing which is already underway will allow my lymph nodes to remain intact and healthy. Forever.
The good news is that the enlarged lymph node on my right side does NOT contain lymphoma. It is instead "brown fat" (which is a good thing for a fattie like me to have hehe. Digests regular fat apparently). So, after the surgery on Monday, it could be that all the funky patches have left the building. The chemo may be a weird medical stab-in-the-dark to treat something that may not even exist in my body any more. Which is a bit of a bendy brain stretch, I tell ya. Especially since it seems like I'm in for a fairly long course, given that I double dosed with both the booby type AND the lymphomaroma. Couldn't just have the normal sort, could I? That would be boring :p.
As it is, all the doctors perk up whenever one of them says, "This is the lady with the gallbladder lymphoma". They all suddenly look interested - prolly cos they have talked about me at one of their medical oddity meetings. :rolleyes:
Anyway, you'll all be able to start making the Bionic-Woman-is-running noises next week cos they are putting a bionic vein in! Medicine in, blood out, no stab-and-miss needed. :) hehe.
MD - the Medical Oddity! LOL. This is all going to go fine, they do this all the time now (unfortunately, but at least that means they know what they are doing ya know?). My only concern is that you will have an unusual and previously unheard of side effect of walking aound in circles because you will be out of balance ROFL :nahnah:
PMSL Trill! Well the solution to that will surely lie in cutting edge experimental surgery - transplanting surplus arse fat directly into the affected area. :lol:
Hi Md - hope you were posting in the early hours of the morning 'cause you'd been out partying!!! Perhaps you could get a 'booby cast' done - or get a tasteful portrait taken.
My mum had the same issues when having to decide on Chemo. She wasn't going to do it, but I think my sister and I persuaded her. My mum is fantabulous now.

MD - well things are looking up then. Isn't it weird to think they all talk about you, but in an interesting way! Fingers crossed for healthy lymph nodes and for more of that brown fat, sounds like some gooooooood stuff!!!
