    Melbourne Chiropractor for Unstable Pelvis/SPD

Long story short. I've had an unstable pelvis/SPD since Week 28 of my pregnancy and it continued after the birth (infact probably worse) which has been a MAJOR pain in the bum particularly as it is putting me off having a second child (and I'm an old fart so can't dilly dally).

I've had physio and that has helped a bit but I've also read that physio will only help so much and that if there's an underlying misalignment in the pelvis then chiropracty (I don't think that's a word) will be the best way to go.

DP has put his foot down and INSISTED that I go and see a chiropractor because he is sick of me moping around and saying we can't have another baby because I couldn't face another nearly 12 months of pain again.

Actually, that wasn't very short at all but I feel better!

So does anyone know a chiropractor who specialises in pregnancy/post-pregnancy stuff who works near Northcote. I don't drive so would have to be close to the Epping/Hurstbridge lines or in the CBD.

    Thanks BBers.

    Hi,

I too had pelvic instability with my 3rd pregnancy only. I found great relief from an osteopath. The treatment is very gentle (it almost doesn't feel like they are doing anything!), but then the pain started to subside. I also went back post baby for a few more treatments. Once I was nearly pain free I went to an 'exercise physiologist' who gave me exercises to do in the gym to strengthen my core stabilising muscles. I'm now pain free in this area, unless I lay on my back on a hard surface for too long! My girlfriend had a severe case and her doctor put her in this body girtle thing that really helped her. My osteo is in Malvern East - probably a bit far for you to travel.

    Cheers, Mary

if your thinking of doing what mary suggested, then kelly has two osteopaths at the centre, wouldnt take too long to get too, out on the lilydale/belgrave line

Thanks guys - I'll bear the osteopathy in mind. Not sure what the difference is between what they do and what a chiropractor does so will do a bit of googling.
