I second the "Zoff". You can get it from most chemists and it is what we diabetics use to get the sticky stuff from the insulin pump adhesive off.....You just sit it over the sticky area and it sorta dissolves it if that makes sense. Some of us will use a bit of tea tree or eucalyptus oil on a cotton ball but zoff is definitely the gentler option.......from memory about $15 at most chemists......
Well thank you everyone. I had a shower earlier and tried a couple of methods. TD you have no idea how much I'd love to go hard with a good scrubber - I'm irritated everywhere and need to slough LOL. Part of the problem is that I have absolutely *no* sensation in the reconstructed 'flap' area, so I'm very aware that I could scrub myself raw and have no idea I'm doing it, so havta be very gentle.
First stop, sorbolene - forget it.
Then I scrounged around and found a couple a alcohol swabs - they did about a square centimetre before drying, ie I would need about 80 more LOL.
Then I got in the shower and tried the body wash - with a facewasher. It seemed to work a little, removed some of the really lumpy chunks, but there's still some thick patches, and one of them's a bit red anyway so didn't want to press the issue.
Abandoned effort, then thought I'd try some bio-oil (since I don't have baby oil) - well it was a good example of lateral thinking....but it didn't work.
I think now I'll hold over and get some adhesive remover (Zoff or similar) at the pharmacy (if I can). When the nurse used it I might've reacted or I might've had a problem with the dressing she used that day (hard to tell) so I will be very careful about patch testing and washing it off.
Suse thanks for giving us a laugh & a cautionary tale!
