    Question Multi Vitamins without Iron?

As we are gearing up for TTC #2 I am wanting to start some vitamins - but I suffer from Heamachromatosis (sp??) where my body holds on to iron and I have to give blood to get rid of some - so I cant take a multi with iron.

Does anyone know of any that dont contain iron?

    Cheers

    Hey Kate,

Sorry I can't help you with any specific recommendations but I'd love to know too. The iron in the pregnancy supplements constipates me something chronic, and my iron levels are generally very good most of the time anyway. So an alternative would be great.

Uncanny - I happened to be alongside a conversation in the staff room yesterday and a co-worker was saying she can't take multi-v's with iron and she'd heard Swisse doesn't have iron in it. So that's almost 3rd hand info now but maybe look into them?

J, I'd still be wary about taking them. I also have haemochromatosis and at one stage I took vitamins that didn't have iron in them and my levels still when through the roof. I think the other vitamins, particularly vitamin c, help you absorb iron from food, so they are not a good idea.

The only supplement I took while TTC and during pg was folate (which you can get on its own and its way cheaper). That's really all you need.
