Woke up with strange metallic taste which won't go away

As the title says, i woke up this morning with an odd metallic taste in my mouth which is not getting better or worse. I've had breakfast and a cuppa, and some water.

Any ideas on what it is or why i suddenly have it.

Any ideas on what i can do to alleviate it. It's unpleasant.

    TIA

A metallic taste in the mouth is often a symptom of Diabetes.

Pregnant? not sure if that is something you want to hear or not? I've never had it personally, but heard that it is a sign..

It probably isn't. I think you'd have other symptoms if it was. You haven't been overly thirsty or anything lately?

Did you get a blood nose in the night? Snored a lot? Sometimes you can cause nose bleeds by snoring. Pinenuts can also cause a metallic taste, I've had that before when I had a pasta that had too many in it. Keep an eye on it and go to the dr if it doesn't go away as Tinks mentioned it can also be the sign of something more serious.

a throat or stomach infection can cause this too. Drink lots of water and maybe you can flush the cause away.

Due to absence of husband we ate store bought pizza last night. So, perhaps that's a culprit.
No tinks, not thirsty, but i've been naughty and i know i need to drink more water. I did have a large glass of red wine last night which is extremely rare for me.

    Thanks guys.

It's improved, but it's still slightly there. Hope tomorrow it's gone or i guess i will have to take it seriously and 'see' someone.

Should have ovulated about 4 days ago.
Not sure about Zinc, but will happily eat my weight in chocolate. Milk chocolate - cover the milk and the choc at the same time...

Thanks actually to everyone. I didn't realise it could be so many things!
