DD did exactly the same thing at around the 7month mark - feeding stopped working, and she started waking 4-5 times nightly. I'd just get her to sleep in my arms then do the transfer but 5mins later she would wake up again. Or else, she would have a feed and then not settle for another 45mins!

At night, what worked, was putting her in her cot and just sitting next to her and patting either her or the mattress (she wears clothies, so I would pat her bum quite firmly). THe first night it still took 45mins but no tears, by the end of the week, it would only take 15mins.

Daytime was a different story - she struggled to wind down without a feed, but didn't want a feed either, if i tried the patting in the cot, she would just scream and scream, so we ended up going for long, long walks in the pram! I lost the last of my baby weight donig this 2x a day so that was a bonus!!

Good luck, it does get better!! (although for us it got better, then worse but now, she will take her teddies and dummy and stand next to the cot ready to lie down, and we can walk out and leave her happily to drift off - this time last year that seemed like it would never happen in our house!)

Yay Shanti! How is it going today? Do you have any idea why she stopped? Teeth maybe?
Happy birthday for your DD for yesterday!

SammyRo - thanks for your post! I lie down with her and feed her and usually within 20mins I can get her to sleep..... then we transfer her to her cot. That seems to be working at the moment.... although yesterday, DD fed to sleep again!!! Yay!!!
DD has been off her sleep since about 8mths old and now that she's 12mths old, I'm her sleep settles down a bit more..... I can only hope!! lol we still have frequent night wakings here but at least she settles with boob easily during the night. It's her comforter!

Rowellen - thank you for DD's birthday wishes! She had a great day. Lots of fun!!
Happy Birthday to Hayden for tomorrow!!
Not sure why she stopped.... I've read a few other stories where this happened around this age too.... just different milestones and developmental things with each baby I guess.... babies are so hard to predict!

I'm happy to say though she has been doing some feeding to sleep for me... which is great!!! sure makes it easy....

Shanti, I think I could have written your OP!! Except for the fact that DS has never fed to sleep.
He will no longer be rocked to sleep, has not slept in his cot since Christmas Day and we have to lay with him at every sleep time to get him to go to sleep! Last night took 2 hours, but he did sleep 10.30-7 which I was extremely grateful for (because he usually wakes a number of times)!! I've had some shockers lately, one night last week he was awake from 11.30-3am and the next night he didn't sleep more then 30 mins at a time between 11-6am. I so hope it's just developmental and things will calm down as the battle for sleeps during the day is wearing me down along with the lack of night time sleep.
I'm happy to hear your DD has gone back to feeding to sleep. Maybe she needs to give my DS some tips!!
