I'm sorry R, but I laughed when I read your post..........again, I can't believe how much your little DD sounds like my DS1!!!!! Man have we travelled the same path I think the sidecar cot sounds like a brilliant plan if you can make it fit etc, I would definitely give it a go. I have a few friends who have done it, all with success. Otherwise, just upgrade to a King size bed we were just saying last night that we might have to do that!!!!!!
