"No-cry sleep solution"... 3 different books...someone help me work out which one...?
Following on from the other post I just did... I am looking for "No-cry sleep solution" by Elizabeth Pantley.
But have discovered (in the last 2 minutes!) that there are 3 different books...
Theres a nap one, which I don't think I need as its her nights that are just the worst.
One that is just "No-cry sleep solution"
And another one that says "No-cry sleep solution for toddlers and pre-schoolers"
So what age are they talking when they say 'toddler and pre-schoolers'? Jazz is almost walking, does that make her a toddler?
Which one would be most appropriate for a 10 month old?
i think a toddler would be a walking talking 14mths onward . id grab the baby one , she is going to age considerably in the time frame that you'll be buying this book
I would lean towards the toddler book. I think long term your money would be better spend on that one and maybe see if you library had the baby one. I have the toddler one and it is quite clear, must read it again for this 2nd bub. OH don't forget your local ABA may have a copy to borrow. Also have a look at Elizabeth Pantely's website, she has some downloads for working out bedtime routines etc (well she did last I looked, hope they are still there)
When I was looking for sleep help with DD1 I did a lot of reading on various forums to see what others were doing. A lot of parents were recommending the toddler book, it was written after the baby one, so it a lot clearer and easier to follow. Problems with the baby one were ironed out with the toddler one. (gee hope I made sense)
I have both and they are both very similar! The baby one goes through all the basics that are appropriate for all ages. I found the toddler one has more specific info for older toddlers like 2 and up when attitude comes into the mix. For the best overview of the "no-cry sleep solution" program I would go with the baby one.
I would go with both . I have them both, and I love them. If you have to choose one, I'd go with the baby one, as I think the toddler one won't really be applicable for Jazz for awhile yet. However, the toddler one is great! So if you find that you're still looking for guidance down the track, and she's outgrown the baby book, I would grab the toddler one as well. Does that make sense?
Anyway, either way, definitely won't be a waste of money
Heaven, I would go with sleep solution, it covers everything. Especially as Grace is still so little.
It has everything. Most of all, reassurance, on so many levels. Seriously, you will look at things differently after reading this book
And personally, from someone who thought she would be rocking her 21 year old to sleep , I can guarantee you that it doesn't last forever. These little people are always changing, and one day you will look back and realise that a little while of rocking to sleep wasn't the end of the world (although it can feel like it at the time, I know). NCSS books are really good at helping you to come to grips with these issues, as well as giving a variety of fantastic tips if you need to change things. Good luck!!!
Oh sounds good!! Yeah, I feel like I will be carrying her around while she sleeps forever, she won't let me put her down!! I suppose one day she'll object to me giving her hugs, lol.
Ah Falguni wish I had checked this before I left, i ended up buying the baby one (felt fairly desperate this morning, and pretty sure I would fall apart without some kind of guidance) for $33 and hoping for the best!! Thanks so much for the offer though, thats realy kind of you!!
Oh, and for future referance, the inside the book says newborn to two years.
I've read both - the toddler one is really geared to older toddlers (like from 18m or so, though it depends on the child I spose.) the fundamental philosophy (and much of the advice) is pretty similar anyway.
I borrowed them from the library & ABA also - worth looking into if you don't want to spend money on books.
