When DD was a newborn, she would sleep in her bassinet or the pram as I could wheel them around the house with me. These days she does have her morning sleep in her cot which is in my room just off the main area in the house so still close by. Afternoon sleeps are often in my arms or on my bed if I have a nanna nap with her.
