fasting for 2 hr GTT

i have my 2 hour GTT today and i was wondering if you have to fast for it?

Hi there, I had Gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy and yes you do have to fast for the 2hour test.. You also have to follow a high carb diet for 3 days leading up to the test and then you can't eat for 12 hours before the test so if you have your test at 8am you can't eat from 8pm the night before (except tap water).
Have you booked your appointment? Usually you have to book and when you do they give you a leaflet on what you need to do.

see i was just givin my refferal for my GTT from my midwife and all she told me is that it takes 2 hours!! grrrr at her!

It tends to be something the doctors 'forget' to mention lol. I had mine about 2 weeks ago and when i was there an old man came in to have his done but no one had told him he needed to fast or be on the diet so the poor old thing wasted his morning when it would have been so much easier if the doctors just gave him the info to start with, i don't know why they don't, they only have to hand you a piece of paper with the info on it.. oh well thats my little vent lol.

Yep you have to fast. I had my test done first thing in the morning so was starving by the time it was over!
