Yeah this is our first so very exciting and scary! It just wont go fast enough, altho from 30 weeks onward its gone much faster than 20-30 weeks, that was a slow nightmare!
We have to travel from Emerald to Brisbane to have him so that will take a few weeks off at the end, im guessing ill have to head down at 37 weeks, then prob have another scan to decide when to get him out
    What about you?

I completely agree there with the exciting and Scary! I've started referring to the pregnancy as an "adventure" lol there's certainly enough in it to be categorised that way! This is our first aswell, so there's been so much to learn!

Oh I hope your right and that being 30 weeks now is going to make it go much faster! I felt like everything else in life was going sssooo quickly apart from the pregnancy! lol That'll be good to give you some time off to relax aswell, is Brisbane the closest place with a hospital to you? I know roughly where Emerald is but not 100% sure...I know its out West? lol I'm from the South side of Brissy so very lucky that the closest hospital is about 5 minutes away.

I'm set to go for a scan at 36 weeks to see how big she is and then I think they will decide from there. I want to try and avoid a C-section (if I can) but if they tell me thats what I have to do, then thats what I have to do!

Emerald is in central QLD, we have a hospital but they only do low risk births. So no GD babies born there. The next closest is Rocky (3hrs) but i was very anxious about going there where i dont know anyone. So we decided to fly to Brissy

Well such alot of new faces in here. Well hope you are all coping well with the GD and not needing insulin. I had my little chloe in december and had her at 38wks via c/s. Due to me being insulin dependant my little bub had to go to newborn care when born to monitor her sugar levels. Unfortunately for me she ended up needing to be admitted to NICU due to her levels being too low, needing insulin and also she was unable to suck so was tube fed. My bub was also not on the large side for someone with GD, she was a tiny 2.375kgs born.

Anyway, atm I havent had my 6wk checkup yet, but will be soon so i am hoping that I no longer need to monitor sugar levels anymore. FX. GL to all of you, and those that are soon to welcome your little bubs to the world. Hugs

Hi all, I need to join you all in here. I had my test done last week and I am .1 over the cut off. I'm hoping that it can be controlled via diet so fingers crossed. I was also trying for a vbac this time so not sure what will happen there. I have a group session I have to go to on Thursday so will see what happens then. Will be chatting to you all over the next couple of months I'm sure lol.

Hi KimB - Im only just recently new here too. I got my results back a week ago today and I came back rather high, but since then I've followed my same diet and my levels have all been significantly low (around the 3-4 mark) so hoping to get some answers this afternoon.

Its all such a learning experience hey? I knew of GDM but never knew the complete ins and outs of it! Good Luck for Thursday! Hopefully they give you lots of information.

Csab - Fingers crossed for your 6 week check up....Can i ask, have u had to continue testing your levels after birth? Or were you able to stop? Your little girl is so adorable in your pic!

Jaki - Hope your doing well and that your levels are staying nice and in control for you! When do you fly to brissy?

Kim - Sorry you had to end up with GD. Hopefulyl you can manage it with diet alone. Was this the only pgcy you had that ended up with GD? Not long now for you hun, congrats on hitting the 3rd tri. On the home stretch now. So you having another girl arent you? If you are you have stayed the same as me with only the 2 boys. hugs

Kristy - Thanks hun, i still havent gone to do the test again yet. Sort of delaying it. After having bub, they had me test until I had 4 good readings in a row. if I didnt then they had me start over again until i did. On occassion since being at home i have checked my BSL's just to see what they are doing. GL with yours hun. Not long for you either. Hugs

    Hi all

Just been diagnosed with GD. I think I am pretty borderline, this was my results:
    Fasting 4.7
    1 hr 10.0
    2hr 8.4

I have booked in for the diabetes educator, dietitian and then endocrinology. I have no idea what the last guy is.

    Hullo there,

I saw my obs this morning and his first words were, "Did you have a big chocolate muffin right before your GTT?" Erm, no... my level was 9.7. ARGH. So I've bought a blood glucose monitor and will start the finger *****ing thing this afternoon. I had no issues with my first pregnancy (but nor did I crave sugar at all), this time I haven't been able to stay away from the sweet poison, but I guess that will have to change now. I called DH all upset about it and he said we'd go through the cupboards tonight and get rid of all our sweet snacks - we both have a huge sweet tooth but he has said he'll help me out by staying off sugar as well. Whatta guy

    Hope you're all well...

I just found out today that I have GD. My fasting level was high aswell. I see the endo tomorrow and am so nervous about insulin. Also do you get given some type of kit, or just a list of stuff to go out and buy?
