Gift idea for friend to celerate our 30year friendship ... Any ideas ??
Hi all,
***** Need you all to throw your gift ideas my way ... For my friend & i whom are to CELEBRATE our 30 year friendship soon !!!!!!!!!!!
I met my friend Ann at a slumberparty of a childhood nextdoor neighbour 30 years ago this 3rd of June ...
We went to different schools in different suburbs ... but a few months after the slumberparty she came to my school as she had problems at her previous school. She chose to be in my level class year as her nextdoor neighbour was in my class ... so when she arrived in my class i was so happy to see her again. A few months later & we were great friends.
30years later & we know each other better than even our own Mums do
Our lives have been complete opposites to each other ... She married at 19, had a family not long later & paying a mortage off before 25 & rarely went out for entertainment ... and i went on to have a career, travelling Aust & o/seas , moved around lots, had two long term relationships then became single for a few years & lived the nightlife clubbing. Then she divorced & became single ... then i met my now lovely man & now settled & had a mortgage. She married again ... and i left work to have my 1st baby at 40.
We dress different to each other, she as a bikie chick with heaps of piercing & tatts ... and i dress kind of modern funk & have no tatts & recently had my ears re-pierced.
She loves heavy metal ... i like pop, jazz & rock.
She now is sadly a widow as her DP killed himself a few months ago & is looking to live quietly on her own but she would still love to meet someone & goes out to see live bands ... i now live a family life with DD & DP & rarely have a night out for entertainment.
My nickname for her is Mouse ... and her nickname for me is Fish
She tells me i am simply the bestfriend ever for being there through everything with her ... i tell her " It's MY job "
So, what ' isn't different about us you might ask ... well, that's easy we LOVE each other no less or more than the other does ... AND we both can talk the wire off a barbwire fence & through life's drama's we have learnt to use our humour as an important tool !!!
**** Any ideas on what gift i can buy my extra super special friend as a gift to celebrate our 30years of mateship .... Something i truely want to do for her as she so deserves it
Thanks a million for reading my lil' story & for your kind replies
Cheers from Lorelle xox
P.S - My DD's middle name Ariane is named after my friend Ann !!!

What a lovely thing for you to do for your friend. It sounds like you are both lucky to have each other.
How about a charm bracelet with a charm or two that represent things in your lives? Or some photos of both of you in a beautiful frame....
30 years is a long friendship. You are very lucky to have a friend like that.
I made my bestie a 'wish jar' for her last bday. I bought a jar with a cork lid thingy and hand wrote a years worth of wishes for her. I rolled them up and used those small elastic hair ties to keep them rolled. Each was a daily wish and each one started with "today I wish you.....'. The last one I stuck to the bottom of the jar so it wouldn't get opened until the day said "today I wish you a happy birthday" and I wrote about how I value her friendship.
Thanks gals ... photo idea sounds great but she has since had a boob job & she went and had some nude shots taken of herself laying on motorbikes ... so i think i might miss out on that one, told you we are different LOL
I should have previously mentioned my budget is small ... say no more than * $50 * as she would be so embarrassed if i spent more (she isn't big into giving gifts herself so she would wring my neck with something expensive )
Do you have a photo of the two of you when you were little girls??? Maybe you could get that scanned and copied at a photo place and buy a nice frame with an engraved message on it...
Oh brilliant idea Alibaby ... we met when we were 13 so the oldest & probably only photo going years back is one we had done in one of those instant photo's booth (though it's black & white) on Flinders St Stn in Melb at about 14 ... i might look into if any photo speciality shops can copy it into a bigger photo It's a shocking photo of us but she would prob get a huge laugh out of it !!!
No prob. I love those photo booth ones they are so much fun. Photos are so special and I am sure it will mean the world to you and bring back alot of memories and conversations about the past and how you canme into each others lives.
Maybe do a smaller photo in a larger frame and then surround the photo with things from your childhood/teenage years that you liked or talked about eg. some things from school or any little mementos that you kept along the way (or go steal some of hers to put iun there if you didn't keep any )
