Love Lego. Now I wish I hadn't gotten rid of my Lego from when I was a kid. We had tons of it & gave it away. I thought maybe I could get some second hand off eBay but they go for a lot too!
DD doesn't have a whole lot yet but we'll add to her collection for her birthday & Christmas. :-)
59.... :0
We will be at like 20 something bit I guess that will basically be in a 2mth period :p
Moi my younger (16 & 18) brothers have all our old lego and rudely won't give it to their nieces, I mean really can't I (oops DD's) just play with what was once mine :p
We had one of those sets before dds birthday at the end of may...
DS has one set atm...with a couple more on the way at Christmas. We are actually on hols at the moment and the only toy we brought with us was...the Lego set. He asked to leave the Perth Show this arvo so he could come back to the hotel to make a police car! The second we are in the room, its Lego, Lego, Lego! Not sure if we can wait til Christmas for more sets, judging by the budding obsession he's got ;) Just got to figure out what sets to buy first...
Loving seeing how everyone is set up too. Thanks for the pics - I don't feel quite so OCD anymore (or at least not alone in my OCD-ness!) ;)
What to get really depends on budget to be honest. We have been fortunate that we have sold some of dds baby stuff (pram, clothes etc) as well as some stuff of that dh had collected a while back and put that back into buying Lego. Right time right place kinda thing. Which has meant we've been able to buy things like the boat without feeling like the budget is stretched too far. A lot if the sets we have are the smaller sets. $5 for an animal set from the friends theme, or even $ 15 for some of the sets isn't as daunting as $80 plus fir a big set, or $130+ for a Christmas set...
Personally, I think for value for money, the "bricks and more" sets are one of the best. They are targeted at younger kids and are really versatile. Safari set has been a fave with dd. Was $13 or $15. From big w. Ummmmm the big pink or blue tubs are only around the $50 mark. The mega box (with $16 pieces) is $79 at Kmart (and has been that price at our local target for at least four years!). This set does have small pieces too so I've divided it up to keep the tiny bits out of general play. There is also a cube in kmart for $39 with 600 pieces - and it looks to be all the bigger pieces.... I love the creator sets too. Love that they have multiple designs in one pack. Have found a couple of car sets that dd neeeeeeds now. One is the set ZF got from our dd for her bday (car/quadbike on one set). Another is a roadster car that becomes a really old fashioned car and a 4wd. Then there are a few others. Like the chopper that becomes a plane or hovercraft. The eagle that becomes a scorpion or beaver. Ahhhh must stop looking at Lego. Or start giving extended family Christmas ideas. :)
We bought the cube from k-Mart to start, it's a cardboard box with a red lego look lid (sorter lid).
Great value for money, I've also picked up random ones along the way & have bigger sets aside for her birthday.
The barbie mega bloks we bought from woolies when they were marked down & the girls were sick, it kept them occupied.
Now it takes all my will to NOT just buy the ones I... I mean the girls want ;)
Yeah it's all about what the kids want.....
We may have more sets than we really intended to get seeing dd wanted one set and I thought another was better value but had already said she could choose... Like safari animals vs princess set... Lol
DD1 has a mental list of what she wants to buy if she does t get stuff for her birthday... I REALLY hope she sticks with the dolphin cruiser ;)
The cruiser is awesome. Just keep telling we that. It has three people and two dolphins. And it is so much fun to play with (according to e of course!)
Remind me thurs to go look for that book for you. Her list will be huge once she sees that lol
Haha yeah it will be ;)
I suspect its gonna be a Lego and DVDs day. Had to cancel zoo trip. Poppet sick. :(
Oh no :(
Poor Miss E, have a nice relaxing day in the lounge.
Just told the girls to go and play lego while I pack some clothes & stuff to go away, girls want to leave but have to wait for DP to get home after what was probably a huge GF arvo!
I'm going to have to Google the dolphin cruiser now. :-)
I am always on the lookout for sets with regular Lego girl/s in it cos the Friends girls are bigger. So far we have one regular girl from the Safari set. I also want to get the Caravan set which I can only find at a couple of places online because it's an old set.
Zarava - We had so much Lego as a kid with roads & space sets. Really wish we hadn't given it all away. :-(
The guy at the local Lego shop is a massive Lego collector. He HAS to have every mini figure that is released. If that means he opens heaps of the random sets until he gets them, then so be it. All the ones that he opens that he doesn't need he then sells for the same price for people to finish their collections or, for the likes of us, to give kids characters to play with. They are $5 each, so not cheap, but he has a great range. Including girl minifigs! Dd chose Harry potter, a baseballer and a girl on a skateboard when we said she could pick any three - and she is super excited that her Lego girl is going to be in the movie next year! There are some characters from toy story in the mix as well. He just has a table there with minifigs, magnets, seperators etc.
Dd was really unwell today. Even Lego was off the agenda. Mummy/daddy cuddles and DVDs. She managed a few bouts of energy to go outside and supervise but not much. Was asleep within five minutes of going to bed tonight.
Really need to take apart the stuff the kids made the other night. She seems to be stumped on how to take them further. But I really can't be bothered lol
If I join this thread, you do know it's all over, don't you?
I reckon we could give you a run for your money div :)
