In need of a useful hobby - little skill required.

I need something to fill the void I'll have from quitting smoking. Chewing gum doesn't appeal to me, and I'd like to be doing something useful, inexpensive but with little or no training involved. I'm not the most artsy fartsy person so it's a bit of a challenge!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Knitting is quite easy and you can teach yourself with a book or I would be happy to show you and you can get more creative as you learn.

If you want a really useful hobby, try organising your house! I am not kidding here - if you google home organisation you will find millions of web pages aimed at getting you organised in ways you didn't know was possible. It can become quite addictive so be careful!

Are all your photos filed on your pc? That could be a good project, its amazing how much time you have on your hands without sneaking off for a smoke during the day....

But knitting would be great to keep your hands busy and mind occupied!

What about jigsaw puzzles. I do the 500 piece puzzles and have bought them or borrowed them from the library.
I put mine on a large piece of sturdy cardboard or you can use a card table.

Just make sure you put it out of reach or cover it up. Little fingers love to try and help.

Fabulous ideas girls, Linda I'll take a turorial anyday...I remember doing it as a child but have completely forgotten.

Rory-House organisation is sort of on the cards as we're about to begin building a house so it'll be cleaning out and throwing out full steam ahead.

Lulu-YES all my photo's are on the PC. I could start getting some frames and albums and filling them up for the new place.

cross stitch - easy once you get the hang of it
knitting - start out with something simple (i'm knitting different squares to make a throw rug)
digi scrapbooking (inexpensive, but just as creative)

Maybe a family tree wall - with pics of parents, grandparents etc. etc.

Do you like typing or writing? I penpal with lots of people all over the world. It's a hobby you can pick up or leave and come back to at any time and you make lots of new friends in the process. I like postal mail but you can also email and make new friends.
