So, I bought an electric bass guitar in 1998, and I haven't yet learned how to play it. It was one of my new years resolutions for this year ... oops
One of the main things stopping me from learning how to play is that I don't yet own an amp. I'm also a flautist, and very familiar with reading treble clef .. bass clef kinda does my head in, and baby brain isn't helping any lol.
Does anyone else play bass? Any suggestions on what sort of amp to buy?
You could try that for a) not needing an amp and b) being able to read treble onto it (although i personally use TAB most of the time LOL). I had a 12-string which my mum had bought to learn and then didn't, she lent it to me, i learned on it for a while and then, with her permission, traded it in for (most of) my classical. I love my guitar
I HATED that 12-string! LOL. I play when i can but that's not all that often these days... DD likes to snap mummy's nylon strings (Yes, a nylon G-string, oh hilarious...) and eat her sheet music while she's practicing....
I'll have to get my flute out again soon. I last played when I was about 36wks pregnant, but it was getting too difficult ... Jambin was such a big bubba that I just ran out of puff lol.
You made such a cute baby, Cherie!
I have a flute that I tinker with from time to time, but sadly gave up my lessons when I was about 15 because my teacher left the music school I was at and they didn't get a replacement teacher in time for my interest to be maintained in lessons.
We've got an amp and an electric 6 string and bass guitar here. No one plays either of them, sadly. Keep meaning to pick up the bass to have a play!
My problem is that I can't seem to sing and play at the same time. Another reason flute didn't get too high on my priority list is that one cannot sing and play simultaneously!
Anyway, good luck with getting a play in here and there
Marc got an electric guitar for his birthday last year, he play every now and again but nothing serious yet. He comes from a very musical family though his dad plays guitar and his uncle too. His brother had a drumkit as a teen and is now a sound engineer.
Me I'm soooo boring only instruments I've played was the keyboard & recorder at school. Always wanted to do Violin but it just never happened. I would love to own a harpsichord though... One of my favourite sounds
I might sound like a complete fool here, but could you plug it in to your stereo amp?
Pianist here (so TAB would 'do my head in' LOL!), and when I'm playing my leccy keyboard, just quietly at home, we plug it in to the home stereo... Its a good roland performance one, worth more than my car so not a cheapy little one...
I don't know if bass guitar would blow it to bits, LOL, but I wouldn't have thought it'd be all that different, would it?
Snacks -- Not usually, unless its a bass amp.
I have a dual amplifier that can do both, but its not the norm.
There might be an adapter that would make it work but I don't know.
Cherie, I will ask DH if he has a recommendation, as its in his line of business, sort of.
