We have allergys here too and Chocolate is out in a big way.

I type out small notes for the easter egg hunt. Dc are handed the first clue, which leads to the second clue so on and so forth till the last clue to the prize. Which is usually a matching plate, cup, egg cup type deal that comes with a chocolate egg but minus the egg and packaging. Of course the notes are read for the little people and the clues are easy such as, to find the next clue that leads to the prize go to where the dog enjoys a drink.
We do $10.00 toys or activity packs from Mum and Dad.
The kids still enjoy Easter and it's not a huge hassle for us either.
We do an allergy egg hunt with the plastic eggs. We often put in jelly beans but not in them all, and those chicks.... at the end of the hunt there are prizes like colouring in books etc etc... the girls love it. They don't care what is in the eggs, they just love the prizes at the end.
I know I'm a bit late, but where do you get plastic hunting eggs from? I'm really keen on having as few chocolate eggs as possible. I have some blown eggs which we are painting, but I had never even heard of plastic refillable hunting eggs.
I was in a chocolate shop with Divvy on Friday and they had some lovely wooden eggs. They're a bit posher/pricier than the plastic eggs but you could re-use them every year.
Or you could ask around for old pavlova eggs (the ones that they sell to make pavlova with in the supermarket).
OOoo, posh wooden ones. Maybe i'll be in time for next year! I've never used a pavlova pre-mix before, but i should ask around.
I went to local Woolworths and believe it or not they had a set of plastic ones. DH had never heard of them either. (Daft foreigners).
He did say Oh, poor kids, are they going to be allowed any chocolate, or are you taking all their fun away!
Balloons, bubbles, stickers, bikkies, maybe a toy. I think they will be having a pretty good easter this year, and i don't have to take their chocolate away from them and ration it out. They're too young to have THAT much self control! Pretty sure thay get that from their mum.
My first Easter with an allergy child as well. I have sourced rice milk (no nut, soy, dairy or egg) easter chocolates from my local absolutely gluten free shop. So I will put an egg in a bulldogs mug for him.
A friend got me onto those plastic eggs, they look fantastic! I will fill them up with his rice chocolate eggs as they don't come wrapped.
Otherwise, you could get egg dying/decorating kits.
My Mum used to always give us Pj's at Easter, or some slippers
