Angry The Bunny has been busted. NOW WHAT?

Ooh, this is a semi vent too.

I've had the worst day, all the kids are sick I'm semi sick (mummy sick and that means life goes on for me right?) and DS4 has been a right royal pain in the butt for more than a week and dp has pushed me to the edge of sanity (where I am currently teetering).

DS got home with dp and was back no longer than 3 minutes before he found the entire egg stash (yes stupidly it was under the bed but I was worried it would melt in the back of the car - and I was IN THE ROOM WHEN HE FOUND THEM, I didn't see it at the time).
So I curl up on the couch with the little rotter and he tells me "oh those easter eggs under your bed are so pretty with all the colourful wrapping".

I immediately yell at DS and tell him he has ruined everything and walk out slamming the door in true infant style. I know he is sorry but its totally trashed it all for me cos I like seeing them all so excited.

I can't even begin where to start the Bulls...t about how the bunny left them under my bed the day BEFORE easter blah blah blah, nothings gonna wash with this kid he is way too smart, if I tell him the truth (i am not ready for that just yet) he will take great pleasure in telling his little sister. What do I do?

I have been through this too.. Angie caught me with the eggs.

I told her the easter bunny dropped it off early because he's not santa and doesnt have a magical sleigh that travels the whole world in one night. LOL. I think I am lucky though tha Angie enjoys the surprise and looks on the younger ones faces as much as we do - so kept the secret. You could try that approach.

Me I would run to the neighbours or friends or even the servo and try find a plain old rabbit and say thats from Easter Bunny and give them the ones you intended on giving them from Easter Bunny from you. Most people have eggs and I am sure someone would be willing to trade one or a few of your for theirs so they don't think its Mummy/Daddy Easter Bunny.

just tell him,the bunny was so busy this year with all the eggs he asked mummy to keep them safe and gave u a list of where to hide them for him.

usually he brings them while your asleep and mummy is asleep, but this year he is to busy helping all the people who lost their homes and that in the bush fires and floods he asked you specially

some styory like that would work, workjs for my 9 yo when the bunny came friday morning and not sunday like his mates, i said well he si so busy he asked if we wouldnt mind if he came early so he wouldnt miss anyone and everyohne would get their suprise.

DD told me there is a boy in her class that doesnt believe in Santa or the Easter Bunny. I just said "Well, once you stop believing, then they dont come anymore". See how that line works???

Argh, annoying! Do you reckon he took an inventory of the eggs? As in, leave a few there under the bed, hide the rest somewhere else, and say that the ones under the bed are from you, like Emmy says.

Another option is to tell him the truth and say that if he tells his sister, then she will get all his eggs. You only get to eat eggs if you believe in the easter bunny!
That worked for us as kids, mum would say (knowing full well we didn't believe in Santa) 'only kids who believe in Santa get presents - do you believe in Santa?' People who say he's not true won't get presents, and we knew we had to toe the party line for pressies!

    Good luck mate.

mmmm I just had M help me make her eggs lol. We don't do Easter Bunny, but we still have an egg hunt... so when she asked me today if there was an Easter Bunny, I just changed the direction and said "I wonder how many Easter Eggs you will find tomorrow?"

We are big on the magic and were devastated when Emmy at 7 found our stash hidden away in our walk in robe under a bunch of clothing so we had to be creative by sorting some that we had to give the kids from us, and then we used cellophane and ribbons to bunch others together to make them look different to the ones she had seen. It worked a treat and she believed up until last year..11!!! Best of luck, it can be so upsetting, but its in the way that you handle it..and after I in true infant style also, yelled at my 7 year old for snooping, I knew that I had to try and be creative somehow...the magic and imagination is just too important.

    Goodluck, i feel for you.

My DS found the eggs this year too....well he only saw the Simpsons coffee mug with the egg in it and the Dora one I got his sister...so I told him they were from us and the easter bunny was going to bring other ones...lucky I had more stashed away, LOL.
Just give him a few from you....and a few from the bunny.

bummer. I have no idea what to say. I would prob have a semi tanty too if I was caught out by DD. I was nervous enough with DH excitedly "sorting though them" on the bed while DD was still awake, I was scared she may walk in but luckily we can pretty much trust that she doesnt get out of bed once she's put in there, even if she sits in there singing/talking for half an hour, I was still nervous though (& would have SHOT DH if she had of walked in!!)

I would probably try to convince him that the easter bunny secretly dropped them off early & that you were supposed to do his "job" & hide them for the kids, so you got upset when your DS found them because you didnt get to do the easter bunnys job properly IYKWIM?

I hope you work something out

    AWESOMENESS.

I picked bits and pieces out of all your posts - luckily I already told DS I'd had a chat to the bunny earlier in the afternoon.

So I told him when I chatted to E.Bunny today he asked me to take the eggs early for him because a) ds has been sick and bunny didn't know if he would be well enough b) ds has been very naughty lately and c) E.Bunny is extra busy this year looking for all the children whose houses burnt down in the fires.

It seems to have gone down pretty well and he has been told to keep the secret because not every big person remembers the old magic like his mummy does (ties in nicely to watching Hook tonight before bed).

Whew - feeling a little better about it, I'm big on the magic too

    SANKS!

Just popping in to give you a on sorting it out! Love the old magic line.

My DD1 was happy to keep believing for a while longer but a friend um, de-magicked her last week. Good thing since she busted us early this morning by looking thru her window!
