we have lights out the front, and had soem out the back but they were weather damaged quite badly so they got turfed a little while back.
the ones out the front are secured with cable ties and gutter clips.

we contemplated solar, but next door neighbour had them, and they didn't always get charged up during the day so she was very disappointed. we decided to avoid solar after that.

we have our christmas tree at that part of the house, so the lights all tie in together

we have santa climbing a rope, star, santa in plane, snowflakes, ropelights and icicles. all the simple stuff we got from kmart last year (they were better value than big w - but not extendable) - rope light, i think is from big w - the bigger decorations are from deals direct online
