no suggestions with the wording of the sign but i wanted to pop by and say how beautiful that sounds to have the family over when the lights first go on and that you will have out that special dinner set to use too, ... it actually bought tears to me eyes as it sounds so special in honouring them your DH's Nanna & FIL

(we too lost our Gran and SIL the same year, it does make for an emotional first Xmas without them but Xmas also makes for a happy time to cherish the memories you have of them too !!)

i have a ceramic Santa Xmas candle that i've had for over 20years and when i put it our each Xmas i light it once and then blow it out in memory of all those that have since passed !

What a lovely way to remember Nana and Poppa.

You could also keep a space - either on the tree or on the mantelpiece in the room where you will all be gathering to celebrate - and have a framed picture of each loved one - decorated with tinsel or in amongst some lovely christmassy things - to include their memory during Christmas lunch.
