we always use things like chocolates, bath products, cups, plates, socks, undies, water pistels, stationary, hair brushes, etc. in our stockings. Generally little incidentaries that are great for all ages.

fruit, lol every year we got oranges in our stockings as kids , I don't know why. We also had little chocolates and treats.
I put pencils in the kids, little toy cars , bubbles, soaps, undies or bathers.

Hmm. There's some cute cheap stuff at Smiggle. Tea/Coffee bags? Facewashers? Candles? Lipgloss?

For boys, Matchbox cars. Stickers. Balls (I remember breaking countless things throwing Christmas stocking bouncy balls at walls).

    We got the oranges too.
I googled it to find out what the story was with the fruit and it turns out that they represent the gold that the original St Nicolas threw down chimneys as charity to poor girls. So they symbolise genorosity. Also back in the day an orange in the middle of winter would have been pretty awesome lol.
