What are you doing on Valentine's Day?

Mods: can't seem to find the holiday and special occasion area, sorry if I'm just blind...

What are you up to on Monday??

Are you a hopeless romantic, with a massive day and/or night planned?

Or are you a bit over it, not doing anything special?

Do you indulge your loved one with a card, some choccies, flowers, anything? What about your partner, what do they do for you?

What about those with kids? What are you planning? We're not going to have baby sitting options so I'm thinking just a nice dinner maybe... Once kids are asleep. What else could we do?

DH and I celebrate the day we first "got together" on V-Day - i'm working all day (blurgh) and made him promise NO gifts or anything - we'll do something spesh together for dinner, but the over priced gimmicks just drive me nuts. i will probably go pick a rose from the garden before i go to work and give it to him though lol

Sending the boys to school, gym, cleaning the house....
I don't really get valentine's day and I don't think DH does either.

We dont celebrate v day either. We know we love each other, dont need a particular day to show it on.
We are however going to get the babys morph scan though!!

Mel - as much as I agree with you on not being big on Hallmark celebrations, I am a bit of a sucker for a big bunch of roses... But I'm always aghast at how expensive they are!!

BG - we celebrate our engagement so we have another reason as well!

    Ubba - awwwwww that's a great V day!

ZF - hug Hun! You're right, that is a lotta lurve

Turtle - I think we've got Dear John around here somewhere ... DH would loooove that

Might chill some bubbles, that'll be nice and special, we don't drink much since we had kids!!

I was hoping to get some ideas but most people don't seem to like V Day!

Both myself and dh ate working but was hoping to do something special still that night!

I don't want to go out for dinner as everywhere does the same set menu's which are boring....

Any suggestions for small things I can do to make the day special ate greatly appreciated!

I don't like the fuss of it, but we make a point of doing something a bit out of the ordinary together. We're doing it tomorrow night, I've got some seafood and making spaghetti marinara and a prawn and mango salad, and I got some cake from a cafe (needing all my willpower not to eat it tonight!) I can't decide if I put it out with some candles on the table, or once DD is in bed, put a picnic rug on the floor of the lounge and have an indoor picnic. I don't go for the whole present thing, although DH has been known too. I like the idea of having a day where you remember each other, where normal life doesn't get in the way, no bill talk, no worries, etc, just me and him and us together.

Since I'm away from the person in my life, I'm catching up with an old friend who is divorced, we're catching up for a drink and then I'm taking him out to dinner, he knows about the drink, but doesn't know about the dinner, going to spoil him because he is in a pretty bad place after his divorce.

    LOL grub!

I might make the effort to cook a good old home cooked meal Rather than my diet of pies and sausage rolls

If Im not too tired we might have some nookie time too!

DF might have flowers sent, but it doesnt bother me if he doesnt, I know he loves me, we dont need a particular day to show each other. Last year we agreed not to buy anything, I'd just cook a meal - and he arranges flowers tobe sent! What the!! I felt so bad!!

OP - Perhaps just cook a nice meal and enjoy each others company. I hate going out on VD - so many cheesy people kissing and smooching (*vomit*) Cant stand romantic cheesy crap anyways!

It wil be 10 years since DH and I had our first date Quite convient reallly so he never forgets! I think its nice to do something out of the ordinary and celebrate love
But in saying that I will be playing touch football and DH will be sleeping Not reallly what I had in mind for our 10 year anniversary of our first date
