We won't put ours up until a week or two before. DH is actually the Grinch and hates Christmas :lol so it makes life easier for us all if the tree doesn't go up until it absolutely has to
DH is a grinch too... too many bad memories for him at xmas time. but he is open to creating new good memories and "doing it our way" and making our own traditions.
