Adelaide.. where to stay?

I love the Clare Valley, only about an hour and a half from the CBD and the wineries are closer together than in the BArossa.

Chaff mill village in Clare is really nice, you can get 2 room self contained units. They have a beautiful big spa too .

In Adelaide - HAigh's chocolate factory tour, on greenhill road. You need to book but is free. Isn't huge but still good and you get samples.

Hanhndorf - german village, nice drive, yummy food and you can go to melba's chocolate factory on the way and Beerenberg jam factory in HAhndorf. I think they have an baby animal farm? Not sure.

Adelaide zoo if you have the kids, but it depends where you are from. If you have a zoo at home you may not want to take the time.

Gumeracha in the adelaide hills - AHs the big rocking horse. Also a toy shop. Ncie drive. I am sure you can get from gumeracha to hahndorf in the one trip just not sure how. I suffer from geographical embarrassment.

If you're bringing the kids you *must* go to Victor Harbour (make sure you stop in at Pt Elliot) and ride the horse tram out to Granite Island.

Other good kid's activities:
paddle boats &/or a ride on Popeye on the Torrens River (near Festival Theatre)
Train Museum in Pt Adelaide - has a miniature steam train to ride
Carousel and side shows at Semaphore Beach
Tram ride to Glenelg, walk the Jetty, have fish n chips, play on the beach
Row a boat on the lake in Rymill Park
Adelaide Zoo
There's a huge adventure playground out near Pt Adelaide as well but I can't remember exactly where...

I second the Hahndorf suggestions, too. Also if you're anything of a foodie you *must* go to Adelaide Central Markets - you can book a tour which takes you around for tastes, etc, too.

Grown up activities could be lunch/dinner at red ochre - overlooks the torrens. you could also do the paddle boats, looks like fun.
