    Question Queensland Holiday suggestions

Hoping you can help me out here. After 2 m/c I have decided that we shall have a holiday, a nice sunny, ie not Melbourne, relaxing holiday. Won't be till end of October cos we have to fit it in around the Thomas Tank Engine concert - as you do!!!
Would like to do one of the islands - Hamilton or Dunk is what I've looked into as they both have kids clubs catering for 3+ and am hoping they will accept a '2 months off being 3' yr old! Has anyone been to either or these or can recommend/not recommend? Any other ideas?
    Cheers, Sharon

Hi Sharon, sounds like a wonderful idea. I've went to Hamilton Island when my children were 3 and three quarters and 18 months (in 2002). We had a wonderful time. There are many accommodation styles on the island and we stayed in self contained apartments (The Whitsundays) which was great as we didn't have to always eat out with the kids. The kids club (and it may have changed) had a section for under threes also but they were pretty strict on the right ages being in the right section (due to liscening issues etc) - we wanted the boys to be in the same section but they were not allowed to be. In the end it didn't matter and we had a really wonderful time. Friends went with their2 year old to Dunk Island and were very happy with it. I think Dunk is generally more expensive and the package you purchase includes all meals etc. This can be good as you know exactly how much you are up for but it takes away some flexibility and spontaneity. We also have been to South Molle Isand (in 2000 with a two and a half year old and eight month old)- the kids club was brilliant and we had a great time but the resort was a little tired and the food less good. (SM also works like Dunk in that you pay a set amount for food, accomm etc.). I think you'd have a lovely break at either of them-enjoy!

Thanks for the replies girls. Nic-Heron Isl. does look nice, but no kids club! Kirstie, I thought you Qld-ers would be sick of us Mexicans invading your territory up there!!
At the moment I think I'm tending twds Dunk, seems it is similar price to Hamilton Isl. and looks like it is probably a bit quieter. Am thinking of doing Cairns/Port Douglas/Daintree area for a week first then over to an island, so we are closer to Dunk anyway. Do you think a week in that area is too much/not enough/just right? Then probably a week on the island. Oooo I'm getting excited. Especially as I am sitting at work, wasting company money on researching MY holiday hehehe

Daydream Island apparently has an amazing kids club. I haven't been there, but I've heard fantastic things about it.
