I've stopped spoiling my children.
They have way too much "stuff" so I have introduced "anti-stuff" policies. I only buy toys for birthdays. If anyone else buys them a toy they can either give the toy straight to charity or they can select another toy that they own to go to charity and keep the new one. Pretty much the same with clothes. Books they can have lots of but they can't have crappy book that are TV/movie merchandising. If they break something that's it. It doesn't get replaced unless it is something they really need for school or sport and I will only replace it with the base version.
