Education Tax Refund Q

Yeah, we rang in last year. Its an automated service & pretty simple.
Just look over the form, write down the few things you need to remember & ring in.
I think its really only confirming ID, TFN, how many primary kids you are claiming for & how many days & how many secondary kids & how many days.
I'm pretty sure it didn't ask what I was claiming for (ie net, computer etc), but can't remember 100%

Schooling requirement
If the student was enrolled or registered in a primary or
secondary school course (at school, home or TAFE) and
attended that course, or received the home schooling, for at
least one day:
■ between 1 July 2009 and 31 December 2009, then they met
the schooling requirement for every day in that period
■ between 1 January 2010 and 30 June 2010, then they met
the schooling requirement for every day in that period
■ in each of those two six-month periods, then they met the
schooling requirement for the whole year.

This is the quote from the form and I read it that if they were only enrolled from 1 Jan 2010 till 30 June 2010 then they are only eligable for the period. My DD started Kindy this year too, so I think you would just divide the 365 by 2.

From the way I read it, they are only eligible for hte whole year if they were at school for both periods stated above! Am I reading it wrong?

No, I take it to mean that if your child was enrolled in either of those two periods, then they qualify for the entire year. Pretty crappy if they excluded children who only started school this year because your education costs will be the same kwim?
