I need a new mattress - any recommendations?

Tempur. Absolutely, 100% the best buy ever made.

I hate staying away as noone has a comfortable a mattress as we do. Expensive, but so worth it.

We have a pocketed inner-spring with pillowtop - love it! So comfortable as it's the right mix of firm for back support (I have a bad back) and soft for comfort. The springs being in pockets stops me feeling DH's every little wriggle. I found most of the latex ones too soft for my back.

But my recommendation - take your time, go with your OH and test out a few different sorts. Bed shops don't mind you laying on the beds, they have covers at the bottom to prevent shoe marks etc. Try to lay in the position in which you most frequently fall asleep/wake up in and on the side of the bed that you normally sleep on - as close to how you'd naturally sleep as possible.

Hehe, I love that you guys love your beds so much! I could sleep on the couch and be as comfortable as I am in bed right now.

Tashy, are the Tempur ones spring or latex?

We tried a few when my Mum & Dad were buying a new one, but got a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. I've been thinking latex may be the way to go, but I like how your spring one has pockets CK - that'd be lots better than a regular spring one I'm guessing.

Just a question, if you guys don't mind, if you have a latex one was it more expensive than a spring one? There's a place in Adelaide called Makin' Mattresses, and they make them there so there's no middle man, it's supposed to be cheaper. But theirs seem to be really fancy latex ones that cost more than others we've looked at, which makes me unsure about it all!

I'd go the latex over one with springs. I don't know heaps about it, but springs can act to amplify electromagnetic radiation which can interfere with good sleep. A latex mattress is definitely on my wishlist. Apparently cheaper latex mattresses have cheap foam fillers in them and poor quality Chinese latex in them. Might be worth doing a bit more research but the locally made ones might be your best bet

I've got a latex one and its beautiful but they are very expensive. Only downside to latex is that it generates a ton of heat, and if either you or your OH are "hot" sleepers, then you might find it too hot. My mum had to get rid of theirs because she just couldn't deal with the heat.
