repairing washing machine...when is it not worth it?

i always just want to buy a new one but know that is silly and i should just fix it(ours is a LG and the power button is VERY dodgy to turn on)
but if its the morot again that should be covered under warantee.. but they will need to find what the real problem is and depending on the cost of that.. decide

I went thru this with our Fisher and Paykel - great machine (when it was working) but it repeatedly blew its electronic boards...usually a couple of hundred dollars. I was happy to keep repairing it until I hit about 75% of the cost of a new one (in total repair bills). After that I told it its days were numbered. Mind you by that stage it was close to 10 years old, and there was a benefit to buying a more water efficient model (with the govt rebate).

If it is still under warranty I would be asking for your money back as it is obviously faulty.....it is your choice as to how you take a refund etc in the case of faulty goods...don't let them fob you off with the we will repair only bulldust.......
Then I would go and buy a new one...you obviously got a lemon!

mel its 8 years old so not new, he said last month if the same thing happens again then there is another issue with it, i doubt id get any money back from the repair man,

oorki you sound like my DH hed rather just buy a new one!!

MD im thinking its not worth it, i found a new basic bosch for $665 today!

were buying a new one, found one for $885 from e&S trading,,

I am with Melbel - except I'd make them replace the machine with a new one AND a new warranty - its just not good enough!!

I'd buy a new one when the total repair bills are 50% and the machine is no longwer under warranty.

i should say that the motor was replaced the second time under warranty from the repair man, not bosch sorry!
