I used my debit card for the first time over the net the other night. It was actually about a week ago.
I went through checkout, put all the details in, went through & when the last page should've come up (payment confirmation?) it said web page cannot be displayed.
So silly me, thought it hadn't worked, & went back to the prev page (card details) & processed it again. &, stupid me...again!
Looked at my bank account on Friday & it turns out it had worked All 3 times.
I rang them on Friday to let them know what happened. They said they would refund the money (over $100 all up ). I asked how long she thought it would take & she reckond it would be done that day... didn't happen. SO thought it may take the weekend to process... still not there.
How long do you think it'd take? I'll ask the bank when I ring about something else, but anyone have any idea??
I just sopke to the bank & they said 48 hours.
I'm ringing the place when they open as because of their website playing up I ended up with $70 in fees. The bank said I should also try & get them to refund the fee's from my bank as well.
My bank is willing to meet half the costs if they are willing. I'm just hoping they are, all up there was $140 taken out that I really cannot afford! (It went over drawn for a reason!)
Guys help me. I'm really starting to get a tad p***ed off!
I've spoken the company again. They say they won't refund me the bank fee's as it was probably a problem with my computer. A power surge or something.
I know it wasn't, as it was only happening on one page & it happened 3 times! I was on 2 other sites (here & FB) at the same time, if it was a drop out in my net or something, those pages would've dropped out too. & it wouldn't have been only that page on that site!
So, if I bought the one item I planned on buying, it would've cost me $35.95. Fair enough. The money was there to cover that. I know there wasn't $107.85 in the account! Thats a whole $71.90 I wasn't expecting to go through, & as my bank said, I didn't give those two transactions authorisation.
Then, because there was no money in my account for my phone bill, it was reversed. Another $35. Then an overdrawal fee of $30. I would not have been overdrawn if it wasn't for the web site stuff up!
I tried to ring them again. All they would talk about is the refund they originally said they'd give me. But, after another phone call, one of them mentioned a $35 refund. It wasn't $35 at all! It was $70!! Then she practically hung up on me saying the first one would ring me back once the refund had gone through.
i would have thought that by keeping your money its tantamount to fraud.
I would call the police and ask them but Im pretty sure the company has to give you back the $ for the 2 transactions.
Oh, and before you do, ring the company back and advise them you have notified the police and they are following it up
As far as I know they are. Well they will be. They only mentioned $35 last time, but I was talking to a different person who probably didn't know the full story.
I'm waiting for a phone call back to confirm that. If they only refunded me once I'll make sure they do it again. I should just ask for all my money back! I thought the site wasn't working & went & got the same thing from a different site. So in the end I thought they'd gotten no money at all, & wasn't expecting any products at all.
Its the $65 in bank fees that I wouldn't have gotten had their site been working properly I'm worried about.
Bj i hope you get it sorted
But it does sound like you might get some trouble from this company.
What they will probably hold onto is the fact you PUSHED funds from your account to theirs by using the online form. they will say you should have called them after the page failed to see if the card was processed. Opposed to them having your details and withdrawing the amount without your knowledge.
I hope that makes sense.
i know it isnt what you want to hear but i wanted to prepare you for what might be argued.
Yeah, I just rang dept of fair trading. By rights I can't expect them to pay the bank fees. I did put it through 3 times without checking if it worked the first time.
So would I be right to ask for all 3 to be refunded? Or should I just be happy if I get refunded for the two? I don't need it now anyway, since I got it from somewhere else.
