MummyNaomi- that's a lot! how do you use the 4x2 in the entry? I was looking at console tables but they are quite expensive so was thinking about using a 4x2 Expedit and maybe putting it on legs, if possible. I want a place to store car keys and DH's spare coins. Otherwise they'll end up on the kitchen bench again and I want keep it as clear as possible. I hate clutter on the kitchen bench and ours is slowly taking it over.

I'll have to look at the GORM system too. We'll be selling the garden shed, as it takes up too much room, so I want to be able to store things off the floor in the garage.

L&B the Springvale store is massive - we loved it so much we went back 3 times in a week..... No help with the storage as we haven't the right set up to use it. I often end up with random bit and pieces on each visit as I love the veg peelers and bag clips (to close opened food bags etc). We do have an Ikea NORDEN extendable white dining table and black chairs in our living room and they have been great!

I can't believe we are talking about the Swedish store and the meatballs haven't been mentioned yet :-)

I will only go if can have a meal there. We have a fair bit of IKEA stuff too (our bed plus bunkbed IKEA), love the bargain bin (we got our mattress from there 1/3 price just because had an oil mark on it where plastic had ripped).

I want an Expedit thing to replace a screen thing we have, there seems to be limited stuff in other places where look as good from the back as the front. I can also feed my fabric obsession by creating middles for some of the squares out of fabric, as we want to let light through but still have some privacy (behind is bathroom and bedroom doors) and don't want boxes in them all (got the idea from the recent catalogue).

I also like their fabrics which I think are quite reasonably priced.

As we live in a small flat I like the fact alot of the stuff is catered to small spaces in the magazine at least, although the stores still are a bit to Aussie in the size of their fridges etc.

The only thing I dislike is the fact all over the world things then become the same - our friends in Spain have same storage system in their kids room etc.

I also want to pimp my Expedits with fabric or paper. I've seen some great examples, using different prints in the same colour/tones. Mine will be against a plain magnolia wall, so I want it to look interesting.

I need to research how to do it. Can I use scrapbook paper on card or do I need to get plywood? I'd prefer to make individual backs that I can then take out and rearrange as my mood strikes me. If I could use cardboard, I could cut up the moving boxes to fit. Or would that look tacky?

I think scrapbook paper on card would be fine using the moving boxes would be fine if they are smooth enough, but you don't have to have very thick card. Cereal box card if big enough for the square would work ok I think. The way I intend on doing it is have two squares exact size of the Expedit square and then with a strip prob 1.5cm each side of square they will then fold in - so will be like a very narrow box (a bit like a big CD case) then that should stand up ok in the middle, and can change them around as and when required and also have different depth each side of the divider (if you are against a wall you don't even need to have two nice looking sides of the box). I don't think will look tacky at all, and far easier than cutting wood into correct size squares.

I've threatened my gorgeous one that I want my 5x5 to be filled with expensive shoes (I'm sorry but if he is flying all over the world for work, he can buy me shoes!), he laughed, I don't think he thought I was serious - he will learn . He's got the 4x4 (same colour as mine) in his study.

I buy the meatballs to take home (in the food hall) along with the frozen potato mix.

I haven't been to the new store yet, I did enough damage at Richmond.

The Entry 4x2 is just actually on the ground (no legs) and we use the bottom row for shoes and bags (not heaps otherwise it looks way too untidy), and the top row has books and photo's. Then on top we have a few ornaments and a mirror in the entry way. Its a nice neat piece thats useful as you enter the house..

I just realised we have the IKEA hat rack for our hats and coats next to it, gosh, I should do a stocktake of all the products I have! I'm a little mad really, but I have an obsession with decorating and storage!

And yep, totally agree with WYSIWYG, we always time a visit with lunch for Meatballs too

Ooh. If you're doing photos, can you do the entry Expedit too?

Wysiwyg - I was thinking of cutting out cardboard to fit the Expedit square, then cutting a small semicircle that I could hook my finger into to take it out. Or sticking a cloth lever on at the top, but thought that may be over engineering it. Once I learn how to use Spoonflower, I can then design fabrics for it instead.

We loved that bed Nay! DH wants to build something similar for DS.

As does DS - OP he thinks its a cubby house bed! Once he is old enough and we turn it up the other way so its a mini bunk I reckon he'll pee his pants with excitement!! LOL

Ooh. If you're doing photos, can you do the entry Expedit too?

Thanks Naomi - that's exactly what I want to do. I've been looking at tables, but they all cost more.

Does anyone have the Stuva bench? It's kids furniture, but I was thinking of using it as a storage bench. Would it take the weight of an adult sitting on it? I was thinking of getting some foam cut to size, then covering to make a cushion. I've looked at ottomans, but they're all expensive too.

I'm really trying to get as much as I can for as little as possible
