Talk to me about sandpits!

So, our new place has a sandpit ( a proper one with wooden sides) So I have a couple of questions.

1. How do I replace the sand that is there? Do you hire someone?
2. Where do you get sand for the pit from?
3. Is it expensive?
4. how often do you change it ?
5. how do you keep it clean/ cover it? if so what with?

LOl sorry, i know it feels like we're playing who wants to be a millionarre lol i just have no idea! thanks in advance

We get new sand for our sandpit from a garden supply place. We get a trailer load and DH wheelbarrows it into the sandpit. It's pretty cheap, I can't remember how much though!

We don't replace it, just top it up when it's running low. We keep it clean by raking it keeping the sand turned over. We don't use a cover for ours because it's pretty protected, but you can use a tarp if you need to.

we use a streatchy netting for fruit trees to cover ours...then cats cant dig in it but it doesnt stay damp.

I got my sand (play sand that is safe for children) from bunnings. It was $9.35 for a bag. To fill a clam shell thing i only used 2 bags.

We used that too, it so fine and feels GREAT.. you can use a tarp, OR get the measurements and if you know someone handy get them to make a cover that stetches OVER the sandpit, you can use netting but it wont stop animals peeing in it.

Yeah I was thinking that, but I dont want the sand to be constantly damp kwim?
