    Welcome pack....

    Hi girls,

    I need your help....

Mine and DH's friend is arriving from London on Thursday night and she will be staying with us for 6 months. She is originally from Poland and has been living in England for the last 4 years doing uni. When DH and I were in the UK we all worked at the same pub and lived together.

We have done her room up really nice and homey for her and she has her own bathroom etc. But I want to do up a 'welcome pack' for her. Stuff to make her feel welcome and at home etc. Im going to put together a frame with photo's of all our friends from the pub etc and put it up on the wall in her room so she has a little bit of home with her.

If you were arriving over here and were staying with someone what would you want in a welcome pack? I want to get her some little trinkets and nice things to put in a big basket on her bed for when she arrives....open to all idea's.

    Thanks,

    Aim xxx

    Gorgeous idea!

Maybe some nice bath things if you have a bath? After the long flight, it might be nice? Some Aussie wine? Pack of Tim Tams lol!

    that's a lovely idea!

i think a mug would be great (feels so much better to have your own).

if she's going to spending most of her time with you (rather than travelling) maybe a map or something? it's a pity we don't have A-Z's here - a small version of that is great to have when you arrive in london.

maybe her own set of keys? i know you can give them to her but it's kind of nice to have them as part of a welcome pack.

The first thing I thought of was Tim Tam's too.

The key idea is a great one and how about a pretty keyring to put it on?

A small stuffed koala or kangaroo?

    Australian music?

A book written by an Australian author?

    A couple of trashy magazines?

    Suncream?

    A pair of cute thongs?

That's all I can think of at the moment. Sounds like you are going to have a great time when she gets here.

I wouldn't go to too much expense. It can be a bit awkward when you're staying with someone and they spend lots of money on you but you're on a backpacker's budget.

    Her own set of keys.
    A sim card
    Some toiletries
An Australian version of her preferred bevvy
Some vegemite (if you don't tell her it's food you can amuse yourself while she tries to figure out what the hell it is)
    A map of Australia

Don't forget to put a vase of fresh flowers in her room. I love staying with my Aunts and my Mum's friends because they all do it but no-one of my generation ever seems to do it.
