Interesting, we have the IKEA Kura and I was thinking about 5ish for DS, he's never fallen out of bed so far but he currently has a bed rail, the height of the top of the sides on the similar to the bed rail (about 30cm I guess?)

Our DD is in one and has been for a month, so she was 2 years 3 months. It got given to us and gievn the size of our bedrooms is great for storage and space saving. We do have a mattress on the floor though, and will keep it there for some time!
I was a twin and slept on the top bunk since before I was 3 and never fell out!
