Our house is 34sqm, with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 living areas, study, rumpus, seperate dining.
Before constructing this house we were about to construct a 45sqm double storey house with 4 bedrooms and each had an ensuite with a powder room downstairs too.
I would've definitely thrown a tanty each time i had to clean that house!
Alioops, I would definitely complain about the neighbours' dogs. That is so inconsiderate. I have a dog myself (who barks only when the neighbour's cat gets into ourr yard once every week or soo, and then only does 2-3 barks and that's it). But I can't understand people that let their dog bother the neighbours all night. I would feel guilty.
We have a neighbour's dog who yaps all night most nights, too. Makes me so angry. It used to keep DD awake. I think he barks at bats. Lucky, it's not our immediate neighbours so there is a little distance. But it makes me so angry. Not at the dog, but at the owners. They're never home, so the dog is pretty neglected and just plain bored.
Turkish Delight, I can so see where you are coming from. DH is dreaming about buying a house and he was showing me a 5 bedroom, 2 loungeroom, dining room, 3 bathroom mansion. i said: Only if we can get a cleaning lady. I have enough work to do with 3 bedrooms. Thanks.
But I think you might have made a typo with your square meterage. 34sqm is tiny. The average loungeroom is probably about 25-30sqm. A bedroom that is 5m long and 4m wide is 20sqm.
One otherthing that annoys me about our place is DH's "toys" A few surfboards and fishing rods are normal. But then he takes up half the driveway with a boat (small runabout), half the garage with a trailer,... No space to put some shelving for storage. Oh, and he only just sold his VW beetle that he was doing up and is talking about getting another old car. We don't have the space (let alone the time or money).
I hate that the laundry and kitchen are bedside each other, but separate. To move from one to the other you either have to go outside or through the living and down the hall. Makes going outside hard as my shoes will often be at the other door, also a lot more crud gets walked through the house due to it. There is not enough paving outside the laundry, plus it is a shady area so grass does not grow. It just becomes a mud pit.
Annoyed that only the back toilet in the 3rd bedroom is on bore water, the one in the bathroom is on tank, so we try not to use it but it is the most convenient toilet.
I loathe the computer corner, it is just piled up crap upon crap. DH will not keep it tidy, he is excuse is that I create the piles and it is already neat He needs a set of drawers.
We need a proper dog run. We have to keep the dog in the paved area off the kitchen over night and when we go out. It reeks of dog poo and limits going in and out of that area to the shed. At the moment we can't have people over for BBQ's etc and it is so embarrassing if someone comes to the back door and we have not yet done the poo clean up. Also it limits the kids going out into a covered area to play.
It's an old house so it has absolutely NO storage - no wardrobes, no cupboards, no linen press! Plus DP loves to collect junk (seems to be a male thing) and has no idea how to tidy or organise so I end up throwing his junk out when he isn't home
I'm going to get one of those ladder things to get some attic storage as we have enough space for another couple of rooms in our roof.
