    I usually only get back about $1000, same for my DH.

    We usually get over $2000 per year. I put it down to me being a dependant (I don't earn a cent) and that we have 3 children But DH does pay a huge amount in tax... also DH claims losses in shares and property... and home office depreciation gets quite a bit back too.... ETA: DH has done his own tax return online for the past two years.... that has saved us a fair bit too.

    I'm worried this year though because he left his old job of 22 years (and got his long service leavce paid out) that we might actually incur a BILL!!! eeeek! we've never had that before!

    I got long service paid out (part of) when my boss sold the business and I was kinda made redundant. I didn't pay extra tax on that $8000 because it was a redundancy thing. Hope you don't get a bill!

    DH always gets a fair bit back due to his work, but he pays a hell of a lot too!!!

    When I worked before DS I was lucky to get a few hundred myself, but then with DS & rental prob each year I've been getting around $3000...as I get my family pymt in the one lump sum. Makes a nice amount at tax time.

    The last 2 years i have had to pay the tax man back around $800 each time! No PHI and HECS I think were respoonsible for that.

    We normally get a few thousand back each year. I always overestimate DH's income so its a nice little bonus in July to look forward to.

    We get about 1200 back all together as well - Which sucks because Df pays about 20K tax a year -.-;
    And ours goes straight on rates too! Damn tax man *shakes fist*
