I don't know hun, we got one for around $300 that is spring and not foam, has a good warranty (I think 10 years) and we got it from Sydneys. We have both slept on it a lot (as you do ) and it is more comfy than our bed $500 seems a lot, might be worth hunting around. We wanted it to last them quite a long time, but also conscious that they are relatively light for a few years ITMS!
That sounds like a lot to me too. I do think you get what you pay for, but little bodies have very little weight to them and so (as I was told) don't need anything like the support that big people need so you can get away with cheaper mattresses without compromising IYKWIM. I think the girls' mattresses were about $250 for the single beds they have at my Mum's house. Probably doesn't help for me to tell you where I bought them - unless you feel like a lovely looooooooooong drive to pick them up ;-)
