It's gorgeous!! Well worth the money i think! Did you find it durable as a benchtop? Do you know if the place in Kilsyth does timber flooring too? and if so, would you recommend?
Thanks mambo! It was a Spotted Gum from a place in Kilsyth (Melbourne)! We got them to lay them width wise down so we got the narrow look on top if that makes sense!!!!

Mmmm you can't let water sit for long around the wet areas, no hot pots etc. and cutting marks it but all that does add character and the colour changed over time which we loved!!! It was from a place called Australian choice timber supplies, they have a website and do floors too. Definitely recommend them. Sorry to hijack MrsP.
No worries Tanstar
I've got a guy coming on Friday to quote for the splashback, DH is quite keen on the red idea so I'm hoping the samples he brings look good!! Would be great to have it some before bub arrives but we shall see - I may have a minor heart attack at the price as we need around 6 or so meters with 3 cut-outs, and we always tend to pick the most expensive option in terms of colour etc. Sigh!
Ours ended up being 3 separate pieces because of the cuts we needed as well as power points Eric. Still costs the same though!!! Red would look awesome!
I'd love to have glass splash back, but our house is new and came with tiles, so we'll leave it for now. My dream house will have glass splashback in the bathrooms instead of tiles, including the shower.
I saw an interesting version on a UK TV show (DIY SOS). Instead of a glass splashback, they ordered a huge family photo behind glass. I think they got it from a photo type place. It turned out cheaper than buying from the splashback place. I have no idea if that would be possible here, but might be worth looking into.
Red would look great with that kitchen.
L&B I know someone who did newspapers behind it so I'm sure you can get it here as well! I love the look of pressed tin as well ala Maggie Beers kitchen (or The Block Josh/Jenna!)
Thought I would update now that I finally have a quote.
Splashback will comprise 6 different pieces, biggest one is 3.9m long, smallest is two at 0.13m long. The long piece we are paying $250 more to have as a single piece rather than have a join visible. Height is 0.65m. Total length is about 6m.
Price for install including extra $200 for a metallic finish color and including GST is $2100. Pretty happy with that!! Also includes two GPO cutouts.
Second quote of around $2400 from another shop did not include the extra for a long piece.
Will decide on color when they come to do a final measure (I ended up taking my measurements into the shops as I was peed off at other companies who stuffed me around supposedly coming over to measure and quote).
Latecomer to the convo but we built and have been in here for 6 months and I love our mirror backed glass splash back. It adds so much light to the place.
Lol for the first few days it did, but I don't notice it now :-)
