Bottled gas is incredibly expensive. we recently upgraded to reverse cycle air con for heating just so we could get rid of the gas guzzling fake log gas heatEr. it was costing $2500+ in gas just to run the heater minimally.
I think DH did cost comparisons of all the diff heating types and will ask him later, but pretty sure you will still be better off buying wood in. (if you are on bottled gas).
No we don't have natural gas out here, they put it through a couple of years ago but they couldn't get it to our area apparently. So yeah, we'd have to buy bottled gas. Did you have the big bottle they come and fill up or just the small ones?
