I didn't know Alyson Hannigan had one. That's pretty cool.

And me of course, i'm a celebrity, right? ROFL.

It's really gathering pace as a movement now - i'm loving it as i think fr every celeb who has a homebirth there will be 1000 pregnant women who think "hmm, i wonder why" and do that little extra research. It might not lead to every woman having a HB, but TBH tht's not a long-term goal in my birth activism head anyway. It's most important that every woman has an empowered birth in the place of her choice, and seeing people do something different is often what starts the thought process of "wait, how do *I* want to do this?"

oh my god i'm struggling to read that charlotte church is old enough to even reproduce! Wasnt she some 11 year old prodigy religious singer?

Anyhoo back to topic . . . What influence do you think it would have if some of these celebs, especially the aussie ones, were to become patriots of the current situation here at the moment? I dunno how this could be approached, but seems to me that if someone of Elle MacPhearson's status were to speak as an ambassador at a birth rights rally for example, or publicise a letter or do a current affairs interview, then the general conservative public opinion may have their eyes opened up to what many conceive to be a hippy preference or a dangerous birth. Following on from that one would hope that the public uproar would pressure the politicians and the AMA to legalise homebirthing again

As much as I'd love for a celebrity to be able to spark change in Australia about homebirth, I'm a bit cynical as to how effective they would actually be after seeing how much Deborah-Lee Furness as done to try to even get a discussion started with the Government about relaxing international adoption laws which from the last I heard has still led nowhere. And she's very vocal on this issue, campaigning all the time and always finding a way to work the issue into whatever media discussion she may be having. She definitely is passionate and knows her stuff!!

Not that she is much of a celeb, but she's married to Hugh Jackman for frick sake and they've adopted internationally!

Maybe I'm just being cynical however...not surprising when it's 4.30am and I haven't slept yet!

She was. She's all grown up now and slightly feral
